Each movement in this sequence gives the leg a different job.
The knee lift into calf stretch combines ankle mobility, calf flexibility, and balance. We use those together when we walk, climb stairs, or step over something.
Glute kickbacks help strengthen the glutes and hamstrings, muscles that extend the hip and contribute to walking and stair climbing.
Hip cleaners take the thigh through several directions and rotations, helping maintain the hip mobility we use when turning, changing direction, or getting in and out of a car.
Side kicks help strengthen the outer hip and inner thigh, helping steady us when we step sideways or shift our weight.
The standing leg is also working through every movement to help control the pelvis and maintain balance.
When practiced regularly, this sequence helps build mobility, lower-body strength, balance, and control.
Save this sequence to try at a sturdy chair or barre.
