Want an easy way to support your child’s language development at home? Start with a book. 📚

Reading together gives children so many opportunities to hear new words, practice understanding language, build sentences, and share their own ideas.

Here’s one simple tip to try at your next storytime: pause and talk about the pictures. You can comment on what you see, wonder what might happen next, or give your child time to tell you what they notice.

You don’t need to turn reading into a lesson. A few extra moments of conversation can go a long way. 💬

We’re excited to see Oakwood School featured in Virginia Living for the meaningful role therapy dogs Misia and Yoda play in creating a safe, supportive environment for students.

From welcoming learners on their first day to joining tutoring sessions and listening to students read aloud, these canine companions are helping make learning feel a little more comfortable—and a lot more joyful.
