Some healing doesn’t begin with words.
Sometimes it begins with slowing down.
With presence.
With feeling safe enough to breathe again.
With simply being seen without judgment.
Something meaningful is here.
The HEART Project is bringing a different kind of therapeutic experience to Kickapoo Tribal Behavioral Health—one centered on connection, healing, empowerment, and growth.

A big thank you to the Kickapoo Tribal Health Center Behavioral Health team and Tribal Opioid Response (TOR) program for choosing Legacy as the featured host for this month’s COPE (Community Outreach & Provider Exchange) session!

We were honored to welcome providers and community partners from across the area for a tour of our facility and a conversation about strengthening family support services in our community. Events like COPE help build meaningful partnerships, share valuable resources, and expand access to support for the families we partner with every day.

Thank you to everyone who attended, asked questions, shared ideas, and invested in creating a stronger, healthier community together. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and look forward to continuing these important conversations! 💚

9% of population can turn the community around

An event will not do it but the event can be a catalyst! My hope and prayer is that Mental Health Matters 2026 will be the catalyst to the process of change! Dr Darryl Tonemah gave a great presentation about mental health and substance abuse and trauma. And shout to Kevin Tushka for this year’s T-shirt design and opening up the day in a good way!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and to kick off the awareness month KTHC Behavioral Health had 2 days of workshops to learn more about mental health and substance abuse and how it affects us.

We are thankful for all who came!

Let’s continue to fight the stigma together!
