We had an amazing and insightful workshop with Kathleen this past Sunday and are already looking forward to part two! See below 👇 to learn more about the important work that she does helping women reshape how they think about their bodies, health, and overall well-being.
I’ll be honest, in today’s thin-is-everything climate, my brain likes to offer thoughts that what I do isn’t needed anymore.
It’s not what people want.
It feels like weight loss is everything these days. It’s everywhere. And it can be easy to get sucked down in that rabbit hole.
So I choose to put myself in spaces where we’re having different discussions.
I choose to consume content that feels empowering.
That’s honest.
That talks about the beauty and strength in women—and specifically, women embracing their here and now body.
The body that’s right in front of them today.
And then there will be these moments, like Sunday at my Release Your Body Story Workshop at Yoga Spot Meadville where I am reminded—by real, authentic, wonderful human beings—why this work is so important.
Why learning how to truly love yourself and your body is so important.
Loving as a verb. As an action. As the way we take care of ourselves.
The way we treat ourselves.
How much we’re all so connected by this one thing.
This one belief that was NEVER inherent in us.
That did not come from us.
But society so feverishly and deliberately shoves in our faces every day.
That our bodies are not enough.
That we are not enough.
So we do (quite literally) anything and everything we can to appease the masses. To fit the standard. To be what the world says is healthy and beautiful.
And quietly we struggle.
And quietly our world revolves around “clean” ingredients, counting our steps, and analyzing every inch of our bodies in every photo, every mirror, and every window.
Because on the quest to make our bodies smaller, what we end up doing is making our lives smaller.
You are so much more than a body.
And there are SO many other ways to look at, explore, experience, improve, and define health that have absolutely nothing to do with your weight.
We’re just not taught that.
And with all the noise out there right now, I want to be a space that gets you out of the rabbit hole.
Stick with me for more.
Thank you, Yoga Spot for having me. I can’t wait to do this again!♥️
