YOU COULD BE THE ADULT A YOUNG PERSON REMEMBERS.

Bethesda Lutheran Services is hiring Youth Support Specialists in Meadville PA!

We're looking for dependable, patient people who want to make a difference in the lives of youth living in our residential programs.

As a Youth Support Specialist, you'll:

⭐ Build positive relationships with youth
⭐ Provide guidance, structure, and encouragement
⭐ Help youth develop coping and life skills
⭐ Lead educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities
⭐ Provide tutoring and everyday support
⭐ Help create a safe, trauma-informed environment
⭐ Work alongside residential, clinical, and education professionals

Experience with at-risk youth is preferred, but not required.

A high school diploma/GED is required. A bachelor's degree in human services or a related field is preferred. Applicants must be 21+.

This can be challenging work - but it can also be incredibly meaningful.

If you're interested in social work, psychology, education, criminal justice, human services, behavioral health, or youth services, this is an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience while making a difference.

Yesterday, we gathered at our Trinity Center to officially dedicate our new 18-panel community mural!

During the event, Bethesda’s Director of Stewardship, Matthew Rachocki, shared the story behind the project and recognized the many community partners who helped make it possible. Artist Christina Wolfe of Wolfe Art Studios also spoke about her creative process and the thought behind the people, activities, and details featured throughout the mural.

While this piece brings color and energy to the corner of 18th and Walnut, it represents so much more. It celebrates children, growth, and community - and carries an important message for every young person who walks through our doors:

You matter. You belong here. There is something beautiful ahead of you.

We are incredibly grateful to Christina for bringing this vision to life; to the Sisters of Saint Joseph Neighborhood Network and Heather Casper for their partnership; and to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Highmark Health, and Marquette Savings Bank for supporting this investment in our community.

What a successful first week back to school!

Wednesday gave us quite the memorable start when our first day began with a tornado warning. Thankfully, Oscar and Millie from Therapy Dogs United, Inc. were there to provide comfort, calm anxious nerves, and bring plenty of smiles during an uncertain moment.

Despite the rough start, our students and staff showed incredible patience, resilience, and flexibility. We settled in, found our rhythm, and ended the week on a wonderful note. We are so proud of our staff and teachers. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this first week a success - especially our four-legged friends, Oscar and Millie! 🐾❤️

Do you enjoy working with teenagers? Are you patient, dependable, and able to stay calm when things get challenging?

Bethesda Lutheran Services is looking for 3 Behavioral Support Specialists to join our Education team.

You'll work directly with youth in a school setting, providing classroom support, helping students manage challenging behaviors, participating in activities, and working alongside an experienced team.

✨ No prior behavioral-health experience required!
A high school diploma and valid driver's license are required. Experience with youth is preferred.

We’re just over a month away from the 11th Annual Clays for Kids Clay Shoot, and we still have teams available!

Join us on Friday, October 2 at Sandycreek Conservancy in Franklin. Four-person teams will make their way through 16 sporting clay stations, with registration beginning at 9 AM and shooting at 10 AM.

The $600 team registration includes am******on, a light breakfast, lunch, a steak dinner and beverages throughout the day.

There’s nothing like good food and time together to kick off a new school year!

Last Wednesday, Bethesda employees from Meadville, Erie, and Corry came together for our annual employee picnic. From a delicious cookout and some seriously unique popcorn flavors to games, amazing raffle prizes, and plenty of time to catch up, it was a great afternoon spent celebrating the people who make Bethesda what it is.

And while we did get caught in a downpour for a bit… it certainly didn’t stop the fun! ☔️

Here’s to another school year and another year of doing what we do best: supporting the children, youth, and families we serve.

The mural is officially on the wall! 🎨🎶🏍️🌿

After weeks of painting, planning, and hard work, all 18 panels of Christina Wolfe’s mural are now installed at our Trinity Center on the corner of 18th and Walnut.

There’s so much to discover in this piece - and so much of it was created with the children and youth we serve in mind.

The kids featured in the mural are shown enjoying activities that are part of their lives at Bethesda, while thoughtful details throughout the artwork connect the mural to the natural world and the surrounding community.

Together, the 18 panels tell a story about the people, experiences, and work that make Bethesda what it is.

A huge thank you to Christina Wolfe of Wolfe Art Studios for bringing this vision to life, and to the Sisters of Saint Joseph Neighborhood Network and their funding partners - PA DCED, Highmark, and Marquette Bank - for helping make it possible.

Two giving events. So many reasons to say THANK YOU! 🩵💚🧡

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters:

$4,140 was raised through Erie Gives! The Erie Community Foundation

$12,373.30 has been raised through Crawford Gives so far, with additional checks coming in!

Every one of those gifts will make a difference for the children, youth, and families we serve, including helping us continue work on our new residential building on the Meadville campus.

But more than the dollars, we’re grateful for the people behind them.
