🚨 Air Quality Alert: Protect Yourself & Your Loved Ones 🚨

The air quality in our area has reached hazardous levels due to wildfire smoke. Poor air quality can affect everyone, but it can be especially dangerous for older adults, individuals with heart or lung conditions, young children, and those with weakened immune systems.

To stay safe:
• Stay indoors as much as possible.
• Keep windows and doors closed.
• Run your air conditioner on the recirculate setting if available.
• Avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
• If you must go outside, consider wearing a well-fitting N95 or KN95 mask.
• Stay hydrated and monitor for symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, or difficulty breathing.

At Cross Home Care, the health and well-being of our clients and caregivers is our top priority. Our caregivers are here to help ensure seniors remain safe and comfortable during periods of poor air quality by assisting with daily needs while encouraging healthy precautions.

Please check on your elderly family members, neighbors, and friends today. A simple phone call or visit can make a big difference. 🩵

Stay safe, and continue to monitor local weather and air quality updates.

🌞 Heat Stroke Can Become Serious Very Quickly – Especially for Older Adults 🌞

As temperatures rise, it’s important to keep a close eye on our elderly loved ones. Older adults are at a higher risk for heat-related illnesses because their bodies don’t regulate temperature as well, and certain medications or medical conditions can make it even harder to stay cool.

⚠️ Watch for these signs of heat stroke:
• High body temperature (103°F or higher)
• Hot, red, dry, or damp skin
• Confusion, dizziness, or slurred speech
• Severe headache
• Rapid pulse
• Nausea or vomiting
• Loss of consciousness

💧 Help prevent heat stroke by:
✅ Encouraging plenty of water throughout the day
✅ Staying indoors or in air conditioning during the hottest hours
✅ Wearing lightweight, light-colored clothing
✅ Avoiding strenuous outdoor activities
✅ Checking on elderly family members and neighbors regularly

🚨 If you suspect someone is experiencing heat stroke, call 911 immediately. While waiting for help, move them to a cooler place and use cool cloths or fans to help lower their body temperature. Do not give them anything to drink if they are confused or unconscious.

A few simple precautions can make all the difference. Stay safe, stay cool, and check on those who may need a little extra help this summer. 🩵
