The night this picture was taken, I had no idea my life was about to change forever.
The next morning, I broke my lower back & tailbone in a sledding accident on that same mound.
Bc of my serious injuries, I was prescribed opioids for nearly two years.
But when the prescriptions finally ended, my addiction, that I didn’t know I had at the time, only continued..
For 5 straight years after that, I convinced myself I didn’t have a problem.
Because I had a loving family.
Good friends.
A job. Was playing sports.
Had responsibilities. Decent grades.
I didn’t fit the picture of what I THOUGHT addiction looked like. 😔
But addiction definitely doesn’t care what you look like..
And eventually it almost cost me my life on multiple occasions.
One of the biggest lies I believed was:
“That could never happen to me.”
Until it did. 💔
Looking back now, I can see God pursuing me even in the darkest years of my addiction.
Not because I deserved it.
But because His grace never stopped reaching for me.
If you’re rebuilding your life after addiction, trauma, mental health struggles, or heartbreak, you’re NOT alone. 💯
