Charles "Moe" Inge, 75, of Hanover County, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026.

Moe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose sense of humor was truly unforgettable. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make everyone around him feel like an old friend. Whether he was sharing a story, delivering a perfectly timed joke, or simply finding humor in everyday life, Moe brought laughter wherever he went.

Just as memorable as his humor was his generosity. Moe was the kind of person who would willingly lend a hand, offer advice, or give his time whenever someone needed help. His generosity was never for recognition; it was simply part of who he was.

Moe was also known for his strong work ethic. Throughout his career serving Hanover County, he was dedicated, dependable, and took pride in a job well done. After retirement, he fulfilled his dream of moving to Lake Gaston, where he enjoyed spending time fishing, relaxing on the water, and creating lasting memories with family and friends.

Moe is survived by his loving wife, Lise Inge; his sons, Thomas Walker Inge and Joseph Allen Inge. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Nicole Inge, wife of Thomas, and their son, Mason Inge; and by his daughter-in-law, Angela Inge, wife of Joseph, and their daughters, Adriana Inge and Siena Inge.

Above all, Moe loved his family. He was a proud husband, father, and grandfather who treasured every moment spent with those he loved. His legacy lives on not only through his family but through the countless stories, laughs, and memories he leaves behind.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 4 - 7 p.m. at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, Virginia.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, VA 23222.

Linda Gouldin Vinson, born November 26, 1932, a native of Caroline County and a longtime resident of Mechanicsville, VA, and most recently, King William, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 6, 2026. Linda was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, teacher & guidance counselor. She was a proud graduate of James Madison University. She dedicated her life to education, serving as a teacher during her early professional career and later a Guidance Director at Henrico High School, Moody Middle School, and Varina High School, where she touched the lives of countless students throughout her career. Linda was a long-time member of Mechanicsville Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon for many years. Linda was deeply devoted to serving her church and family. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune & Jeopardy and working in her flower garden in her later years. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling the world! Survivors include her daughter and caretaker for the last 9 years, Linda Rae Cosby; her beloved twin grandsons, Dallas Cosby (Christine) and Dustin Cosby (Ashley); and her dear sister, Jean Lynch. Linda also has 3 precious great-grandchildren: Caleb, Carson and J.R. She was preceded in death by her parents, Linda Andrews Gouldin and Thomas Milton Gouldin, Sr.; her sisters, Dorothy, Louise, Mary and Martha; her brothers, Milton, Francis, William, Richard, George & John Gouldin; as well as her former husband, Ray Hudnall Vinson. Aaron Newman Hutchison, 33, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on August 5, 2026.

There are some people who come into your life and leave a mark that can never be erased. Aaron was one of those people.

Aaron was born in Richmond, Virginia, and throughout his life, he had a heart that was bigger than he ever realized. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice. If someone needed help, Aaron was there. It didn't matter what time it was, what was needed, or whether it was convenient for him. If he could help, he would. That was simply who Aaron was.

He had a way of caring for people that was genuine and unconditional. He never needed recognition or praise for the things he did. He helped because he cared. He loved deeply, gave freely, and would do almost anything for the people he loved.

Aaron had a special love for animals, fishing, and, of course, the music passed down by Ricky. These were some of the things that brought him happiness. It was often the little moments that meant the most.

To his wife, Heather, Aaron was so much more than a husband. He was her person, her partner, her home, and someone she expected to share countless more days and memories with. The life they shared together will forever be a part of her heart, and the love between them will not end with his passing.

Aaron is survived by his loving wife, Heather Bew; his parents, Stacy and Robert Hutchison; his grandmother, Wanda Thibault; and his siblings, Robbie, Michelle, Linzi, and Charlie Hutchison.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ricky Thibault, whom he loved deeply.

He leaves behind a family who loved him, friends who will miss him, and countless people who were made better by having known him. His absence will be felt in the quiet moments, in the places he loved, in the songs that remind us of him, and in every moment when someone needs a helping hand and we think Aaron would have been there.

His life was a gift. His heart was a gift. And knowing him was a gift

Kromer, Steven Warren, 76, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. Born on March 2, 1950, Steve lived a life marked by service, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he worked for many years as a butcher for A&P and later Food Lion, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly smile. Steve found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved NASCAR, camping, cooking, and baking his famous pound cake, which became a favorite among family and friends. He was a devoted member of Hardy Central Baptist Church in Varina, where his faith was an important part of his life. Above all, Steve treasured his family. His greatest happiness came from spending time with those he loved, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. He is survived by his loving wife, Judith Kromer; his son, Timothy Kromer (Heather); his daughter, Amanda Clarke (Scott); his beloved grandsons, Russell Kromer and Scotty Clarke, who brought him immense pride and joy; his brother, Gerald Kromer (Kyoko); his faithful canine companion, Jazzmin; and many cherished extended family members and dear friends. SPRADLIN III, James William, 82, of Mechanicsville, peacefully passed away surrounded by loving family on August 3, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and James Spradlin, Jr.; and his brother, Jerry Mitchell Spradlin (Rosalind Spradlin).
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 60 years, Gayle Mann Spradlin; his children, James Timothy Spradlin (Connie Bowen Spradlin), Lisa Spradlin Abbott (Scott Abbott), Laura Spradlin Breeden (Buck Breeden), Monica Ruth Spradlin; his beautiful grandchildren, Jamie Spradlin, Nick Abbott (Ivey Abbott), Nate Abbott, Austin Breeden (Brooklynn Breeden), Emma Breeden, Eppes Poole, and Jordan Spradlin; his sister, Jennifer Doherty (James Doherty); his sister-in-law, Mary Covey (Vaughan Covey); and many other loving family and friends.
Jim was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps where he was a lance corporal. He worked for 39 years in telecommunications and retired as a Director of External Affairs at Sprint. He made many friends with governors, legislatures, and judges due to his hardworking and honest nature. Jim found great joy in supporting his community in any and every way he could. He was the President of the Exchange Club in Martinsville, VA. He was also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus in Martinsville and Mechanicsville, VA. He loved being outside and in nature with his family, whether it be in the mountains or on the beach, surf fishing in the Outer Banks. Some of the best memories of Jim were when he would take Gayle on trips up to the Peaks of Otter and relaxing in Maymont Park. He was a devoted and loving father and will be greatly missed by everyone that he encountered.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 20th, 2026 at the Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 AM. There will be reception in Genesis Hall at the Church of the Redeemer following the service. Dorothy Brooks Cole, 90, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 30th, 2026.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Edward Sherell Cole; her parents, Samuel and Christine Brooks; and her twin sister, Jean Crouch.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Debra Corley (Joey), Edward "Butch" Cole, Jr. (Kande), and Rodney Cole (Jenny); her grandchildren, Jay Corley (Nikki), Matthew Corley (Lavender), Ryan Cole, Krista Cole, Morgan Cole, Turner Cole (Lauren), Noah Cole, and Teagan Cole; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Harper Corley, Riley Corley, Charlee Mae Corley, and Riggins Corley.

Dorothy built a life centered on faith, family, and service. She was deeply rooted in the Mechanicsville community and a proud graduate of Washington Henry High School. Dorothy was married at Shady Grove United Methodist Church and remained a devoted member of the congregation throughout her life. For more than 35 years, she served as a customer service representative at a bank in Old Mechanicsville, where she became known for her kindness, patience, and genuine care for those she served. She retired in 1995, embracing her favorite role of all—being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and years later, a great-grandmother.

Family was the heart of Dorothy's life. She was present at ballgames, plays, parades and special events, faithfully cheering on her children and grandchildren from the sidelines. She was a constant supporter of her husband during his many years of involvement with Mechanicsville Little League, and she delighted in making memories with those she loved. Annual family vacations to Myrtle Beach became treasured traditions for the entire family.

Dorothy also had a passion for preserving life's special moments. Wherever family gathered, she was never far from her camera, capturing birthdays, holidays, vacations, and everyday moments that her family will cherish for generations. Through her photographs, she lovingly preserved the story of a family she adored.

Those who knew Dorothy will remember her thoughtful spirit, unwavering love, generous heart, and steady faith. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the friendships she treasured, and the countless memories she helped create and photograph!

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111.

A second visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 8209 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Road, Hanover, VA 23069. CHARLES EDWARD GIFFORD, 83, passed away from natural causes on July 27, 2026. He was born in Old Town, Maine on May 16, 1943. Charles or “Chuck” was a middle child with an older sister, Linda and a younger brother, Roger, who was his partner in crime growing up. Linda would babysit her brothers and they would pay her back by stealing her doll’s head and hiding it.
Chuck graduated from Old Town High School in 1961. After high school, he joined the Air Force and was posted to Fairbanks, Alaska. He always said that Fairbanks made him feel at home. After his tour of duty, Chuck returned home to Old Town and joined the Maine State Police as a Trooper with a duty post in Houlton, Maine. He later joined the Federal Government as a Special Agent. During his 29-year career he was posted to Boston, Bangor, Washington, DC and Arlington, Virginia. He retired May 1, 1998. Being 6’4”, with a booming voice, and a no-nonsense personality, Chuck was extremely good at his job. During his career, he also completed a degree in Criminal Justice.
In his younger days, Chuck enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was able to fix almost anything. After he retired, he maintained a professional wood working workshop. Many family members have heirlooms from his efforts. Chuck had two homes with pools. He enjoyed family time at the pool and loved to grill out. He kept files of recipes and liked to try them out on the family.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Gifford and his mother, Fern Gifford, sister Linda McDonald of Bucksport, Maine and brother Roger Gifford of Winterport, Maine. Chuck was also preceded in death by his stepsons, Matthew Cline and Patrick Cline.
Chuck is survived by his wife of thirty-six-years, Judith, sons, Charles B. Gifford, Andrew Gifford (Kristin), and Adam Gifford (Laura) of Fredericksburg, Virginia. He is survived by his daughter, Lissa Karlgaard (Christopher) of Williamsburg, Virginia. Chuck’s grandchildren, who will dearly miss him are Michael Gifford and Madelynn Gifford of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Natalie Cline of Irvington, Alabama; and Scarlett Cline of Chesterfield, Virginia. Chuck is also survived by brothers-in-laws, Jim McDonald of Bucksport, Maine; Stuart Davis (Linda) of Spokane, Washington; Devery Davis (Sandra) of Panama City Beach, Florida; sisters-in-laws Maria Gifford of Phippsburg, Maine; Charisse Davis of Edmond, Oklahoma; nieces Marissa Phillips (Matthew) of Edmond, Oklahoma; Kelly Brown (Shawn) of Bradley, Maine; Karen Morin (Chris) of Holden, Maine; and Sherri Baubonis (Rich) of Bucksport, Maine. Chuck is also survived by numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

John Joseph Ferri, 79, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away on July 28, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his father, John A. Ferri, and his mother, Fannie S. Ferri.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Kathy M. Ferri; his daughter, Angela Dawson (Dana Dawson); his son, Cody Ferri (Jordan Ferri); his sisters, Jane Ferri, Patricia Ruffner (Ed Ruffner), and Brenda Bell; and his three cherished grandchildren.

John proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969 as a Vietnam veteran. During his military service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, a Marksman Rifle M-14 Badge, and two Overseas Service Bars. He carried the values of honor, dedication, and service with him throughout his life.

More than any title or accomplishment, John was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend. To know John was to know someone who never met a stranger. He had a gift for striking up conversations that often ended with a new friendship.

John found his greatest happiness in the outdoors. Whether he was fishing, relic hunting, target shooting, bird watching, tending his garden, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature, he appreciated life's simple pleasures. His love of the outdoors was matched only by his love for the people in his life.

John's legacy is one of humor, laughter, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved by all whose lives he touched. He lived simply and reminded those around him that the best days were often the ones spent with family, friends, and the outdoors.

A Celebration of Life will be held at his home in Mechanicsville, Virginia, on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor John's life, share memories, and celebrate the remarkable man he was.

David Rush Figuly’s heart finished beating 2,522,515,800 times on July 4, 2026 (he would be impressed by this statistic instead of saying he was 68 years old) at his home in Bumpass, VA. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Albert and Eva Mae Rush Figuly; and his sister, Sarah Lee Kathyrn Figuly. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Ginger Figuly; her daughter, Jenny Burkhead; his step-granddaughters, Bre (Chris) Clune and Baylee Burkhead; and one great-grandson, Carter Clune. He is also survived by his brother, Albert Thomas Figuly; and his sister, Emilie Simpson; his nieces and nephews, Maria Figuly (the only one he let call him Boo- Boo Head), Alexandra Figuly, Amanda Simpson, Tyler Simpson, and Jacob Simpson; and his special aunt, Mary Rush Gayton. Born on December 27 at the tail end of 1957 when Elvis was King of the airwaves, David lived through the turbulent times of the 1960s and 1970s. He was a trendsetter when he moved to Hanover in 1970 because he was one of only a few boys his age sporting long hair. Even as a young teen, he was a hard worker who saved up his money to buy his first car, a flashy red and white GTO. Sports cars and 4x4 pickup trucks were his life back then. His life settled down a bit when he married Ginger and said she was the best thing that ever happened to him. He adored his grandchildren and loved them as his own. He was so proud of all their achievements. He was also proud of all his nieces and nephews and challenged them to do even better things. He was a champion of his niece, Maria. One of the things he enjoyed was watching her swim at the Special Olympics. David was a simple man who enjoyed a good time with family and friends. He loved driving big rigs and being on the road. He preferred working outdoors and living in the
country. He would rather patronize small Mom & Pop stores and honky-tonks than going to the box stores and fancy restaurants. David was a man with a big heart. He took up for the downtrodden, both people and animals, whenever he could. He adopted his sister’s dog, Ziggy (who misses him desperately), after she passed away several years ago. He would empty out his wallet to help somebody in need. But the one thing that made him stand out is that he never stopped dreaming and hoping for better things to come.

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Steven "Steve" Anthony Lipford, born November 22, 1986, and departing July 16, 2026. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose larger-than-life personality touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Steven had an incredible ability of maintaining a unique, optimistic perspective towards life. He consistently offered his supportive, inspiring wisdom to many throughout his life and was quick to offer a helping hand at the drop of a hat. Steven truly was the life of the party. He had a special gift for always making people laugh, and his infectious laugh could brighten even the darkest day. Whether sharing a joke, telling a story, or simply being himself, Steven brought joy wherever he went. He never met a stranger, and his kindness and sense of humor left lasting impressions on countless lives. Steven had a deep love for the outdoors and found peace and happiness in nature. Whether he was spending time outside, enjoying the fresh air, or simply appreciating the beauty around him, those moments brought him great joy. He spent the majority of the past 10 years traveling the country while working as an inside journeyman wireman and was a proud brother of IBEW Local 666. Above all, Steven cherished his family. He was a devoted uncle, and his nieces absolutely adored him. The love he had for them was unconditional, and he treasured every moment spent making memories with them. They will forever carry his laughter, love, and playful spirit in their hearts. Steven also shared a special bond with his sister, Summer, whom he loved dearly. Their relationship was built on love, laughter, and countless memories that will remain a source of comfort in the days ahead. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Lipford; biological father, Steven Wagoner; uncle, William "Billy" Wagoner; and grandparents, Mary and John Wise. He is survived by his adoptive father, Floyd Lipford; his beloved sister, Summer Damron; brother-in-law, Ronnie Damron; his cherished nieces, Addison Ferrell and Zahara Damron; and uncle, Tony Wise (Shannon), along with many other family members, friends, and union brothers who will forever miss his optimism, complex wisdom, laughter, and loving heart. Though Steven's time with us was cut far too short, the joy he brought into the lives of those he touched will never, ever be forgotten.
