The car ride home can shape how young athletes remember their season. When kids hear they're valued for their effort, growth, and love of the game-not just the scoreboard-they're more likely to build confidence and enjoy playing. A few simple words can go a long way.

There’s no age limit on needing a fresh start.

In 2025, about 1 in 5 teens experienced moderate or severe anxiety symptoms, while about 1 in 5 adults experienced a mental illness.

But “beginning again” doesn’t have to mean reinventing your life.

It can mean having the conversation. Setting the boundary. Breaking an old pattern. Asking for help a little sooner this time.

Whether you’re 15 or 50, sometimes the bravest thing you can do is decide that something can be different.

You’re allowed to begin again.

If you only let yourself rest after everything is done, you may never really get the chance. There will almost always be another email to answer, another chore to finish, or another task waiting for your attention. Rest isn't something you have to earn by pushing yourself to the limit. It's part of taking care of yourself so you can keep showing up for the people and things that matter. If guilt shows up the moment you slow down, you're not the only one-and it's something you can explore with support if it's getting in the way of everyday life.

Often, the thing making us anxious isn't only what happened.

It's what we decided it meant.

Our brains are constantly interpreting, predicting, filling in blanks, and connecting the present to things we've experienced before. Sometimes those interpretations help us. Sometimes they quietly keep us stuck.

Changing your perspective isn't about convincing yourself that everything is fine.

It's about getting curious about whether there's another way to see it.

That's something therapy can help you practice: https://bit.ly/EllieMedfordMA

College move-in day isn't just about boxes and dorm rooms. It's a transition-for students, parents, siblings, and families. You might feel excited for what's next while also grieving what's changing. That's normal. Big life transitions ask a lot from us emotionally, even when they're positive. If this season feels heavier than expected, you're not alone. Sometimes the biggest adjustment isn't unpacking your things-it's adjusting to a new version of everyday life.

About 1 in 5 women experience depression or anxiety during pregnancy or after birth.

And depression during pregnancy can raise the risk of postpartum depression.

So support doesn’t have to start when things get hard.

Find a therapist before baby arrives. Put a few check-ins on the calendar. Give yourself one less thing to figure out later.

Emotional regulation is one of those phrases we hear a lot, but it doesn't mean staying calm all the time or never having big feelings. It means noticing what's happening inside you, making space for those emotions, and having more choice in how you respond. Some days that might mean taking a break before replying to a text. Other days it might mean recognizing you're overwhelmed and asking for help. It's a skill, not a personality trait. And like any skill, it can grow with practice and support.

Back-to-school prep usually starts with supplies. But the things that make a school year feel manageable rarely fit in a backpack.

A little routine. A little breathing room. A few trusted people. And support that’s already there before it’s urgently needed.

Sometimes peace of mind is simply having a plan before you need one. We're here to help: https://bit.ly/EllieMedfordMA

The way a coach responds after a mistake can stick with a young athlete long after the game is over. Emotionally safe coaching isn't about lowering expectations-it's about helping kids learn, grow, and keep showing up with confidence. That's a win that lasts beyond the season.
