🐶 This happy 3-year-old French Bulldog recently visited us to treat a condition called distichiasis—a pesky problem where abnormal eyelashes grow from the eyelid margin and can irritate the eye.

When he first came to us, he had a painful corneal ulcer caused by these rogue lashes. We plucked them out to help his eye heal, but unfortunately, they came back. 😣 Even after his ulcer healed, the irritation continued, leading to tear staining and discomfort.

Some breeds (including Frenchies!) are more prone to this condition, and it can cause symptoms like squinting, eye discharge, and redness.

To give him long-term relief, we performed cryotherapy, a treatment that freezes to hair to destroy them. He may have a little swelling or lightening around the eyes afterward, but he’s already on the road to feeling much better! 💙

🖤 Meet our brave patient – a handsome 15-year-old Domestic Shorthair who recently visited us for evaluation of a rapidly growing mass near his right eye.

During his ocular exam, we noted a large, dark mass displacing the upper eyelid and overtaking the upper portion of the globe. While the rest of his exam was unremarkable, we were concerned about the potential for a cancerous process – with a melanocytic tumor being highest on our list of differentials.

Although rare in cats (accounting for less than 1% of all cancer diagnoses), melanocytic tumors are the most common primary ocular tumor in felines, with the diffuse iris melanoma being the most frequently diagnosed. Tumors originating from other sites – like the limbus, conjunctiva, or eyelids – are far less common but can be more aggressive, especially those involving the conjunctiva.

To ensure the best outcome and reduce the need for multiple procedures, his dedicated family elected for eye removal. He is now recovering well post-surgery, and we are awaiting final histopathology results.

We’re all crossing our fingers for good news for this sweet guy. 💛🐾

Meet this adorable 5-month-old French Bulldog who came to us for eye irritation — and we found a conjunctival dermoid in her right eye! 👁️💕

A dermoid is normal tissue in the wrong spot due to how things develop in the womb. In her case, it was a 10mm mass on the bulbar conjunctiva, causing discharge and redness. Thankfully, her cornea isn't directly involved — just a bit of mild fibrosis.

Since the dermoid is causing irritation, her family has opted for surgical removal — and we’re excited to help her feel better soon!

🐾 Meet this sweet 12-year-old Labrador Retriever! 💛 She came to our clinic for evaluation of a growing mass on her lower right eyelid that started to cause irritation over the past few months.

👁️ Did you know eyelid tumors are the most common periocular tumor in dogs? Thankfully, most are benign and slow-growing. But as they enlarge, they can rub against the cornea and cause discomfort, discharge, or even ulcers.

The good news? Surgical removal is highly effective! Since her mass is small but irritating, her loving owners have chosen to move forward with a procedure to remove her mass.

We’re so excited to help this happy girl feel more comfortable again soon! 🐶💕

Meet this handsome 1-year-old Maine C**n! 🐱💙

He came to us for evaluation of entropion—a condition where the eyelids roll inward, causing facial hairs to rub against the eye. Ouch! 😿 This led to chronic irritation and even a corneal ulcer (now healed), leaving behind some faint scarring on his left eye.

While entropion is more common in dogs, it can happen in cats too—especially in breeds like Persians and Maine C**ns due to their unique facial structures. In his case, both lower eyelids are affected.

🔧 The fix? Surgical correction! Until then, his loving owners are using lubricating drops daily to protect his eyes and keep him comfy.

We’re so excited to help this sweet boy feel better and see more clearly soon! 💛

This sweet senior kitty came to us after battling a retrobulbar abscess—an infection behind the eye that made it hard for her to eat and caused significant swelling around her right eye. 🥺👁️

Her journey began when her primary vet discovered an infected tooth and performed a dental extraction. With pain meds and antibiotics on board, she came to us for a follow-up eye exam.

We found classic signs of orbital infection: swelling, tearing, mild globe displacement, and inflammation. Retrobulbar abscesses can be caused by dental disease, trauma, or even foreign bodies like plant material. They’re painful and often need advanced care.

Thankfully, her treatment was already underway—and at her recheck a couple of weeks later, her symptoms had completely resolved! 🎉😻

We’re so happy to see this tough girl thriving again. Senior pets are superheroes too! 💜🐾

🐾 Meet this sweet 12-year-old Italian Greyhound who came to our clinic with a swollen right eye and signs of pain. After a thorough ophthalmic exam, we found high intraocular pressure and complete hyphema (blood in the eye), which can be caused by trauma, disease, or other serious conditions.

🩺 An ocular ultrasound confirmed a retinal detachment and signs of a mass effect in the back of the eye. Unfortunately, the eye was blind and painful, so with his loving family’s support, we moved forward with enucleation (eye removal) to relieve his discomfort.

💛 The best part? There was no mass within his eye! He recovered beautifully and absolutely rocking his one-eyed look! His family says he’s doing amazing. 🐶✨
