Labor and Delivery Review

07/26/2026

You are in those final weeks of pregnancy, packing your hospital bag and realizing you’ve spent so much time preparing for labor and meeting your baby… that you haven’t really thought about what happens to your own body after delivery.

You have been told postpartum recovery is mostly about resting in bed and taking it easy after birth.

What if one of the best things you could do for your recovery was actually getting up and moving—at the right time, in the right way, and understanding exactly why your care team encourages it?

As a Registered Nurse with 15 years of OBGYN and postpartum experience, I help moms understand what’s happening to their bodies so they can feel more prepared and less anxious during recovery.

After delivery, your nurses will encourage you to get up and move when it’s safe.

For many moms, this feels surprising because you just did something physically exhausting… and now you’re being asked to move your body.

Knowing what to expect can help you feel less caught off guard during those first postpartum hours.

If you’re preparing for postpartum recovery and want to know what those first days can look like—and the why behind everything your care team asks you to do—comment or DM “POSTPARTUM5.” I’ll send you all the details on how virtual visits with an OBGYN Registered Nurse can support you throughout your postpartum recovery. It’s a game changer. 🫶🏼

You are in those final weeks of pregnancy, packing your hospital bag and realizing you’ve spent so much time preparing for baby… but not enough time preparing for what happens to you after birth.

You have been told postpartum recovery is just something you have to “get through” — that the bleeding, soreness, bathroom trips, and healing are just part of becoming a mom.

What if you walked into those first postpartum days knowing what your body was going through, what was normal, what could make recovery easier, and when something deserved a call to your provider?

As a Registered Nurse with 15 years of OBGYN and postpartum experience caring for women through pregnancy and postpartum, I help moms feel prepared for the recovery they don’t always get enough time to talk about.

One of the first things your care team will talk to you about after birth is your first trip to the bathroom to p*e.

Many moms are surprised that this becomes such an important part of their recovery, especially after a long labor, epidural, or delivery.

Knowing what to expect can help you feel less caught off guard during those first postpartum hours.

If you’re preparing for postpartum recovery and want to know what those first days can look like and the why behind it, comment or DM “POSTPARTUM5”. I’ll send you all the details on how virtual visits with an OBGYN Registered Nurse can support you throughout your postpartum recovery. It’s a game changer.🫶🏼

You leave your OB appointment… and before you even make it home, you’re already Googling everything they talked about.

And honestly?

That is such a common experience during pregnancy.

Not because your care team didn’t do their job…

But because pregnancy comes with SO much information.

One mom shared:

“They mentioned me needing the Rhogam shot. I have so many questions that aren’t getting answered and it just scares me.”

And this is something I hear so often.

Here’s what many moms don’t realize:

Your prenatal appointments are filled with important conversations about your health, your baby’s health, upcoming tests, and decisions you may need to make along the way.

Sometimes you leave the appointment, process everything you heard, and suddenly more questions come up.

“Why do I need Rhogam?”

“What does this mean for my baby?”

“Is this something I should be worried about?”

“What questions should I ask at my next visit?”

And that’s completely normal.

Your questions matter.

You deserve to understand what’s happening in your pregnancy and why.

That’s where an OBGYN Registered Nurse can help.

Through virtual nurse visits, you get dedicated time to talk through pregnancy topics, prepare questions for your appointments, and feel more confident navigating your pregnancy journey.

Because pregnancy isn’t just about receiving information…

It’s about understanding it.

You deserve education, support, and someone taking the time to explain.

Comment or DM “NURSE” and I’ll send you all the details on how virtual visits with an OBGYN Registered Nurse can support you throughout your postpartum recovery. It’s a game changer.🫶🏼

From fertility clinic to OB office: 5 things I want every IVF/fertility patient to know before their first prenatal appointment.

You finally hear the words you’ve been waiting for…

“You’re pregnant!”

After the appointments, the waiting, the medications, the blood work, the ultrasounds…

You’re finally here.

And then comes the next step:

“Congratulations! You’ll now transition your care to your OB.”

For many moms, this moment is exciting…

But it can also feel overwhelming.

Because your fertility clinic knew your entire story.

They knew every lab.
Every scan.
Every milestone.

And now you’re walking into a new office wondering…

“Will they know everything we’ve been through?”

“What happens at my first OB appointment?”

“What questions should I ask?”

“Is everything still okay?”

As an OBGYN Registered Nurse, I want you to know:

This transition is a BIG milestone — and it’s completely normal to have questions as you move from fertility care into prenatal care.

Your first OB appointments are about continuing to monitor your pregnancy, reviewing your history, discussing next steps, and helping you feel supported as you move forward.

You don’t have to go from fertility patient to pregnancy expert overnight.

You deserve education, reassurance, and support as you navigate this next chapter.

Comment or DM “IVF” and I’ll send you my 5 things every IVF/fertility patient should know before their first prenatal appointment.

And if you’re looking for extra support between appointments, I’ll also share what virtual nurse visits with an OBGYN RN can look like for you.

You check your patient portal and see that you failed your 3 hour glucose test… and suddenly you’re Googling: “Failed 3 hour glucose test… what does this mean?”

The portal message mentioned…
✨ Your glucose screening results.
✨ Gestational diabetes.
✨ Possible next steps.

And somehow… you’re left wondering:

“Did I do something wrong?”
“Does this change anything?”
“What happens now?”

That’s completely normal.

A diagnosis or conversation around gestational diabetes can feel overwhelming — especially when you’re trying to understand numbers, food choices, monitoring, and what this means for the rest of your pregnancy.

The good news?

You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Imagine having an OBGYN Registered Nurse you can connect with between appointments to help you understand what your results mean, prepare for what’s next, and feel confident navigating your pregnancy.

✨ Understanding your glucose results.
✨ Learning what gestational diabetes actually means.
✨ Preparing questions for your OB appointment.
✨ Understanding nutrition and lifestyle recommendations.
✨ Knowing what to expect moving forward.

It takes time to understand what’s normal, what needs attention, and how to feel confident advocating for yourself and your baby.

Comment or DM “GD” and I’ll send you information on how we can review this together with an RN. 🫶🏼

Your postpartum nurse did an amazing job reviewing your discharge instructions with you.

But here’s the thing…

You were learning about your recovery while also trying to breastfeed, figure out pumping, watch how to swaddle your baby, being shown how to cough and sneeze while minimizing your pain after your c-section, and honestly wondering if you could just have one more ice pack before walking out the door.

Now you are home with your newborn, recovering from birth, and suddenly realizing you have questions you didn’t even know you would have.

✨”Why are my breasts getting so full and painful so quick?”
✨”Why am I cramping when I breastfeed?”
✨”What’s the healing process for my baby’s umbilical cord look like?”

You were told to review your discharge paperwork… and yes, that information is important but now you find yourself Googling.

What if, instead of searching Google at 2 AM, you had a Registered Nurse to help you confidently walk you through caring for yourself and your baby during those first weeks at home?

As a Registered Nurse in OBGYN and postpartum for almost 15 years I know the questions that come up after moms leave the hospital—the ones you don’t always think to ask before you go home because you’re not in the thick of it yet..

It takes time to really understand what to know, what questions to ask and to feel comfortable with this.

Are you, or someone you know, close to your due date or just delivered? This is for you!

Comment or DM “RECOVERY” and I’ll send you all the details on how virtual visits with an OBGYN Registered Nurse can support you throughout your postpartum recovery. It’s a game changer.🫶🏼

You leave your first OB appointment, get home, and suddenly you’re Googling everything your OB talked about.

Your OB mentioned…
✨ Genetic testing.
✨ Blood work.
✨ Your next ultrasound.
✨ Warning signs.

And somehow… you forgot half of what they said before you even got home.

That’s completely normal.

There is SO much to learn during pregnancy. It can feel like you’re expected to remember every detail while also navigating a thousand new emotions, changes, and decisions.

The good news?

You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Imagine having an OBGYN Registered Nurse you can reach between appointments to help you understand what’s happening, prepare for what’s next, and answer the questions that pop up after you’ve already left your provider’s office.

✨ Support before your OB appointment.
✨ Explanation after your OB appointment.
✨ Guidance when you’re not sure what’s happening.
✨ Postpartum support after you’re discharged home.
✨ Real RN education from early pregnancy through postpartum recovery.

It takes time to really understand what to know, what questions to ask and to feel comfortable with normal verse not normal situations.

Comment or DM “OBGYN” and I’ll send you all the details on how virtual visits with an OBGYN Registered Nurse can support you throughout pregnancy and postpartum. 🫶🏼

It’s 9:30 PM. You open your patient portal and see: “You’re anemic. Start taking iron.” Here’s the first thing you should know.

As an OBGYN Registered Nurse, I’ve learned that many moms see “anemia” on their lab results and immediately wonder how everything changed so quickly.

The simple explanation?

Pregnancy changes your body in many ways as your baby grows, and your blood work can change throughout pregnancy. That’s why your provider routinely checks your labs again later in pregnancy.

If your results show anemia, your provider may recommend treatment or additional evaluation based on your specific situation.

It’s important to remember that not all anemia is the same. Understanding what your results mean and why your levels changed is what helps determine the best next steps for you and your baby.

The good news?

Anemia in pregnancy is common, and many moms go on to have healthy pregnancies with appropriate follow-up and treatment.

You deserve to understand what your labs mean, why your provider is recommending treatment, and what questions to ask next.

Comment or DM “ANEMIA” and I’ll send you information on how we can review this together with an RN. 🫶🏼
