Sometimes the right support can completely change how a child experiences everyday tasks. ๐Ÿ’š

Corrine modeled using TD Snap, selecting โ€œbrush hairโ€ to get her ready for practicing self-care.

What made this meaningful was how well she responded to The Neuro Standard hairbrush. Corrine noted that the softer bristles appeared more sensory-friendly and caused less pulling than traditional brushes, helping make the experience more comfortable and positive for Mayla. ๐Ÿ™Œ

While brushing her hair, she was also working on:
โœจ Functional self-care skills
โœจ Communication through AAC + ASL
โœจ Sensory processing
โœจ Motor planning + coordination
โœจ Participation in daily routines
โœจ Independence

This is what meaningful occupational therapy looks like, supporting kids with tools and strategies that help them participate more comfortably and confidently in everyday life. ๐Ÿ’š

Able and accomplished! ๐Ÿ™Œ

The last three Intensive Therapy sessions were filled with hard work, determination, laughter, and so many meaningful moments. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ’ฅ Ricky did sit-ups and reaching to target his core strength. He used a weighted bar, added in rotations, controlled his reaching, and maintaining knee bends for improved stability and control.
๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ Mateo got into the Spider Cage for standing and reaching. This helped to work on dynamic postural control, coordination, and head control while encouraging forward flexion to break his extensor tone pattern.
โฌ†๏ธ Leo worked in the Levity Gait Trainer and the Spider Cage to practice assisted sit-to-stands. Through controlled lowering to target weight bearing, hamstring stretching, hip alignment, and core engagement, the setup helped counter his extensor thrust patterns while reinforcing more controlled movement.

Every activity was intentionally designed to help them build strength, coordination, balance, and independence in ways that support everyday life. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Fantastic work Ricky, Mateo, and Leo! ๐Ÿ’ช

A โ€œthank youโ€ lunch for a team that does so much. ๐Ÿ’š

Last week we celebrated our SLPs with a well-deserved lunch and a little something personalized, because the care, patience, and intention they bring to every session deserves to be recognized.

They help our kiddos communicate, connect, and build confidence in ways that impact everyday life, and we got to celebrate them.

Happy Speech, Language, and Hearing Month! โœจ

Balance is about more than just standing still, itโ€™s about body awareness, coordination, and learning how to control movement. ๐Ÿ’ช

While supported in the spider cage, Nolan practiced tandem standing on the GiBoard by Gibbon USA to challenge higher-level balance skills in a way his body could better understand and respond to.

โš–๏ธ 8 Bungees + GiBoard โ€“ Using proprioceptive input from both the spider cage and the board to improve body awareness and maintain tandem standing without compensating out of position.
๐Ÿ 8 Bungees + Ball Toss โ€“ Adding a two-handed toss game to challenge balance and coordination while encouraging him to stop relying on the bungees for stability.
๐Ÿ”ฅ 4 Bungees + Ball Toss โ€“ Progressing the challenge by reducing support and requiring more independent balance and control.

The goal wasnโ€™t just balancing. It was learning where his body is in space and how to control it.
This is what intentional progression in physical therapy looks like. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Leoโ€™s three-week Intensive Therapy session was all about building control, coordination, and head stability through purposeful movement and play. ๐Ÿ’ช

๐ŸŒ Banana Blast Game + TheraSuit โ€“ Rolling from his back onto his side to reach for bananas while working to separate arm movements from head and neck patterns. This targeted reflex integration (Moro + STNR), serratus strengthening, and more controlled reaching in a gravity-eliminated position.
๐ŸŽฒ Sorry! Game โ€“ Tall Kneeling โ€“ While playing with a therapy friend, he worked on head control, hip extension, and weight bearing through his arms in tall kneeling.
๐Ÿช‘ Sorry! Game โ€“ Sitting Balance โ€“ Working on sitting balance, left arm propping, right arm reaching, and head control while using the Head Pod for improved alignment and support through weakened ranges.
โฌ†๏ธ Levity Gait Trainer by Ora Medical + Spider Cage โ€“ Practicing assisted sit-to-stands and controlled lowering while targeting weight bearing, hamstring stretching, hip alignment, and core engagement. The setup helped counter his extensor thrust patterns while reinforcing more controlled movement.
๐Ÿ‘ต Greedy Grandma Game โ€“ While seated in the spider cage, he worked on sitting balance, lateral righting, oblique activation, and head control through dynamic seated play.

Every exercise was designed with intention and movement to challenge his body in new ways. This is how intensive therapy builds strength, control, and independence, one purposeful activity at a time. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Great job Leo! ๐Ÿ’ช

Laughter, fun, and a whole lot of friendly competition! ๐Ÿƒ

During a game of Mantis by Exploding Kittens at a Rifton Adaptive Desk, these three young men worked toward their individual goals, each one supported in a way that met their unique needs. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Aiden worked on:
Conversation starters
Sequencing + executive function
Setting up their environment
Social skills + turn taking
Standing supported through a wheelchair-to-stand transition

โš–๏ธ Will worked on:
Postural strength + dynamic balance
Rocker board challenge
โ€œConversation Measuring Cupโ€ to build intentional social interaction
Social skills + turn taking
Standing independently, adding the balance challenge

๐Ÿคฒ Leduar worked on:
Reaching + grasping
Pinching + fine motor control
Standing for functional tasks like brushing teeth + self-care
Social skills + turn taking
Standing supported with the Molift Raiser Pro

Every laugh, every move, every card played was a step toward greater independence. ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿ‘‰ Follow for more therapy through play!

The power of Intensive Physical Therapy. ๐Ÿ’ช

During Mateoโ€™s three-week session, every exercise was designed to challenge his patterns, build strength, and create more control through movement.

๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ Standing in the Spider Cage - Reaching to place the ball was working on dynamic postural control, coordination, and head control while encouraging forward flexion to break his extensor tone pattern.
โฌ‡๏ธ Squats in the Spider Cage - Building strength and control through full range while targeting terminal hip and knee extension and actively stretching hamstrings and countering withdrawal patterns.
๐Ÿพ Quadruped (Reflex Integration) - On all fours, lifting and lowering his head to a target then turning left and right is helping integrate reflexes and improve coordination between head and body movement.
โšก Galileo Standing - Focusing on weight acceptance, midline alignment, and full-body activation to help him build the strength and endurance needed for standing, stepping, and transfers.

Every movement is intentional. Every rep is building something bigger.

This is how we turn effort into independence. ๐Ÿ™Œ
Way to go, Mateo! ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿ‘‰ Follow along to see how intensive therapy creates real progress!
