Sometimes progress starts by moving in the opposite direction of what the body naturally wants to do. ๐Ÿ’ช

Joseโ€™s three-week Intensive Physical Therapy session focused on an overarching goal: extension. Every activity was carefully designed to help him activate the muscles needed to lift, lengthen, and maintain a more upright posture.

๐Ÿง˜ Propped Prone โ€“ While working through a prolonged hamstring stretch, he was grounded through his upper arms to create stability and encourage him to push up toward a visual target. This position also supports spinal mobility, shoulder mobility, and myofascial release.
โšฝ Exercise Ball Extension Work โ€“ Lying on his stomach over the exercise ball, he worked on active trunk extension and side bending. By using righting reactions, we encouraged activation of his trunk and extensor muscles in directions that don't come naturally to him, helping build strength, balance, and postural control.
๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ Prone Suspension โ€“ While suspended, he worked on pushing, pulling, core activation, and head control. This activity also provided valuable vestibular and proprioceptive input to improve body awareness and sensory integration.
๐Ÿฆต โ€“ Tall kneeling allowed him to work on extension, postural control, and weight bearing while reducing the impact of knee flexion contractures. This position challenged him to feel where his body was in relation to gravity and develop greater awareness of his center of gravity over his base of support.
Every exercise looked different, but they all worked toward the same goal: helping him build the strength, control, and body awareness needed for more functional movement. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Great work, Jose! ๐Ÿ’ช

Happy Father's Day to all the amazing dads, grandpas, stepdads, and father figures! ๐Ÿ’š

Our kiddos wanted to share a special message in the ways that work best for them.

Some used their voices.
Some used Tobii Dynavox AAC.
Some used both.
Some even shared their message in more than one language.

Different methods. Same message.
โœจ Happy Father's Day! โœจ

We believe every child deserves a way to communicate, connect, and share meaningful moments with the people they love most. Today is one of those moments. ๐Ÿ’™

To all the dads who encourage, support, advocate, and celebrate every milestone, this one's for you! ๐ŸŽ‰

Occupational therapy is all about building the skills needed for everyday life, and sometimes that looks a lot like playing games. ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŽฒ

In Leduarโ€™s three-week Intensive Occupational Therapy session, every activity was carefully chosen to target functional skills while keeping him engaged and motivated.

๐Ÿงฉ Chroma Cube Logic Puzzle โ€“ Standing with support from the Molift Raiser Pro, he played while working on a fine motor and cognitive challenge that required two-handed coordination, problem-solving, visual-spatial skills, and precision as he manipulated and placed each cube onto the board.
๐Ÿงค Cognimate Glove โ€“ Through interactive games, he worked on opening and closing his hand, grading control between fully open and fully closed, hand-eye coordination, timing, and motor control. Holding his hand open is especially challenging, making this a powerful way to build functional movement.
๐Ÿšฒ Arm Biking + E-Stim โ€“ While maintaining his grasp on the handles, he practiced active elbow extension and reciprocal movement patterns. The e-stim helped activate his triceps, reinforcing the movement needed for functional tasks like dressing, washing hands, and reaching away from his body without losing his grip.
๐Ÿƒ Mantis Game โ€“ Standing at the Rifton Adaptive Desk with support from the Molift Raiser Pro, he worked on reaching, pinching, fine motor control, and standing endurance. These skills translate directly to self-care activities such as brushing teeth and other daily routines.

Every game, every reach, and every repetition is helping build the foundation for greater independence. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Fantastic work Leduar! ๐Ÿ’ช

Head control doesn't happen in isolation, it starts with building strength and stability throughout the entire body. ๐Ÿ’ช

During Romanโ€™s three-week Intensive Physical Therapy session, every activity was designed to strengthen his foundation while working toward improved sitting balance and head control.

โฌ†๏ธ Sit-Ups โ€“ Practicing chin tucks on the way up and down to activate his core while demonstrating excellent control throughout the movement.
โšก Galileo Sitting โ€“ While seated on the Galileo, he worked on sitting balance and head control while drawing on a mirror for added motivation. This activity also challenged his grip strength, forward reaching, and postural control while the vibration helped facilitate muscle activation through his core and up the chain.
๐ŸŽฒ Greedy Granny โ€“ Sitting on a dynamic surface (a bolster), he challenged his sitting balance, core strength, head control, and reaching skillsโ€”all while having fun playing a game.

Every exercise may have looked different, but they all shared the same goal: building the strength, stability, and control needed for meaningful functional progress. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Great work, Roman! ๐Ÿ’ช

Every exercise in Arianneโ€™s three-week Intensive Physical Therapy session was intentionally designed to build the coordination, stability, and reciprocal patterns needed for future walking goals. ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ Crawling (Spider Cage) โ€“ With her ankles weighted and attached to a pulley system, she worked on crawling forward and backward to strengthen reciprocal movement patterns, bilateral coordination, and hip extension.
โ›ฐ๏ธ Walking on Knees + Sorry! Game โ€“ On an incline wedge for an added challenge, she practiced knee walking while focusing on coordinated hip movement and stability. The added weight provided increased proprioceptive input and helped slow her movements for more controlled motor planning.
๐Ÿšฒ Rifton Adaptive Bike Ride โ€“ Working on reciprocal pedaling patterns while encouraging pressure through her heels and flat feet instead of pushing through her toes.
๐ŸŸฃ Standing Balance + Theraputty โ€“ Practicing static standing and heel weight bearing while using knee immobilizers to allow more stabilization through her hips, trunk, and back.

Every movement had a purpose.
Every challenge built control.

This is how Intensive Therapy helps turn movement into meaningful progress. ๐Ÿ™Œ

You did an awesome job, Arianne! ๐Ÿ’ช
