The body always keeps the score.

“Sometimes anxiety isn’t a warning that something bad is about to happen. Sometimes it’s your nervous system responding to experiences you’ve already survived—doing its best to protect you, even when you’re finally safe.”

That perspective changed the way I think about healing.

Our bodies carry so much more than we realize. Stress, trauma, grief, burnout, chronic pain, anxiety, and even years of putting ourselves last can all leave an imprint on our minds and bodies. We become so used to living in survival mode that we forget what it feels like to truly rest.

Healing isn’t about “fixing” yourself—because you were never broken. It’s about giving your body, mind, and nervous system the opportunity to feel safe enough to let go of what it’s been carrying.

The body remembers. That’s why taking care of your mental and physical health is so important. Therapy, movement, breathwork, quality sleep, healthy relationships, and intentional self-care all play a role in healing.

As a massage therapist, I see every day how much tension people carry without even realizing it. Massage therapy, facials, head spa treatments, and guided breathwork aren’t just ways to relax—they’re opportunities to reconnect with yourself, calm your nervous system, and give your body permission to soften.

Self-care isn’t selfish.
It’s healthcare.

You only get one body, one mind, and one life. Don’t wait until you’re completely exhausted or overwhelmed to make yourself a priority.
