WHY USE A WINDLASS WHEN YOU CAN DIAL IT IN?

Not all tourniquet tightening systems work the same way.

A study published in the Journal of Special Operations Medicine demonstrated a distinct advantage of the X8T’s dial-based tightening system compared with the windlass tourniquets evaluated.

The difference? Greater tightening control with fewer turns and lower pressure.

-Fewer tightening actions
For arm applications, the X8T required a median of just 0.7 total tightening turns, compared with 1.5 to 2.5 turns for the windlass tourniquets tested.

-Lower pressure to achieve occlusion
Median thigh occlusion pressure was 359 mmHg with the X8T, compared with 398 to 426 mmHg for the four windlass tourniquets evaluated.

-No X8T pressure exceeded 500 mmHg during the study.

Unlike a traditional windlass, the X8T’s self-securing dial produces immediate, full-width circumferential strap tightening as the dial advances.

The goal isn’t more pressure. It’s the right pressure to stop the bleed.
