Memphis has always been a place of resilience, culture, and community.

At Nepantla Center, we believe healing is strengthened when we honor the wisdom people carry from their families, communities, histories, and traditions. While our roots are grounded in Latinx and Indigenous ways of knowing, our vision has always been broader—to create spaces where people from all backgrounds can be seen, heard, and healed.

We believe there is much to learn from one another, and that healing is deepest when we build it together.

🌱 Something is taking root in Memphis and moving beyond. We hope you'll grow with us.

One idea from my Rhodes College presentation, From Survival to Liberation: Decolonizing Latinx Health and Healing, continues to shape my work every day.

Nepantla is the threshold—the in-between space where old ways of understanding ourselves no longer fit and new possibilities are still emerging. Rather than seeing uncertainty, disorientation, or identity shifts as pathology, what if we understood them as part of the natural ecology of healing, growth, and becoming?

That question continues to guide the vision of Nepantla Center. 🌱

Nepantla is the threshold—the space between what was and what is becoming.

Most of us have lived there at some point: between identities, relationships, careers, cultures, or ways of understanding ourselves. It isn't a place to fear—it's often where the deepest healing, growth, and transformation begin.

🌱 Welcome to Nepantla Center.
