🌱 Last night, Nepantla took root.
Last night, I stood in a room filled with clinicians, supervisors, educators, artists, activists, healers, scholars, community and nonprofit leaders—and people connected to one another in ways we may not have even realized when we walked into the room.
That was part of the point.
During my remarks, I invited everyone to notice our interconnectedness—to recognize that some of us knew one another directly, others through relationships, communities, and shared work. Like roots beneath the ground, we were already connected.
That is why the room looked the way it did.
Nepantla Center was never meant to be something I build alone.
And last night, I wasn't asking anyone for money, donations, or sponsorships. I asked for something different:
Help me hold the vision.
Challenge it.
Teach me.
Connect people to it.
Tell me what I cannot yet see.
And when the time comes, help me build it.
Because Nepantla is not simply a mental health center. It is an invitation to imagine what becomes possible when science and soul, clinical knowledge and ancestral wisdom, culture and community, mental health and liberation are allowed to sit at the same table.
Last night, we literally began around a table.
To every person who sat at The Nepantla Table: thank you for trusting the vision enough to show up at its beginning.
The roots are already touching underground.
Now we build together. 🌱
