Here at Baptist-Tipton, we are committed to providing the highest level of care for the whole family! From newborn to all stages of life, our Emergency Department is ready to serve.

Even though we are ready for an emergency if you need us, we also love educating to prevent harm from happening to your loved ones. September is Baby Safety Month, so here are some things to pay extra close attention to for our most vulnerable patients.

➡️ Safe sleep practices to reduce SIDS and accidental suffocation risks. Put babies on their backs with room sharing not bed sharing, avoid smoke and ni****ne, keep cool, and avoid crib clutter.

➡️ Car seat installation and use - incorrect installation is a major cause of crash-related ED visits. Make sure you follow your car seat manufacturer’s instructions.

➡️ Home hazard prevention (choking hazards, water safety, furniture anchoring).

➡️ Product recall awareness and safe use of baby gear.

Also remember, “Viral” does not equal Verified. We strongly encourage families to reply on evidence-based guidance from pediatricians and safety experts instead of social media adds.

Baptist Memorial Hospital - Tipton has been recognized by the Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) with a Zero Harm Award for achieving zero healthcare-associated infections in one or more categories throughout calendar year 2025.

The Zero Harm Awards recognize Tennessee hospitals and clinical departments that demonstrate exceptional commitment to patient safety by preventing healthcare-associated infections. Awards are presented in four categories: Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI), Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI), Clostridium difficile Infections (CDI), and Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) over the past calendar year.
Baptist Memorial Hospital - Tipton achieved Zero Harm in the CLABSI, CAUTI, and CDI categories.

The THA Zero Harm Awards honor hospitals that foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement while delivering high-quality care to the patients and communities they serve. This year, 100 hospitals earned the award, and 16 achieved the highest recognition for reporting zero hospital-wide infections in 2025.

Tammy Van Dyk, Senior Vice President at THA’s Tennessee Center for Patient Safety, added, “The Zero Harm Awards recognize the extraordinary results that can be achieved when leaders and frontline teams unite around a shared commitment to patient safety. These hospitals and units are setting the standard for excellence, creating safer environments and better outcomes for patients and communities in Tennessee."

The THA Zero Harm Awards are presented annually by THA’s Tennessee Center for Patient Safety to honor hospitals that go extended periods without healthcare-associated infections.

We are so proud to celebrate our nursing staff for being recognized by the Collaborative Healthcare Action Measurement Platform (CHAMPs) for their dedication to implementing hospital procedures that promote mother-baby bonding during the first hour of life! 👶🏼🤱🏼

That first hour is such a precious and meaningful time for new families. Through intentional, evidence-based practices, our nurses are helping create opportunities for mothers and babies to connect, bond, and begin their journey together from the very first moments of life.
