Many people say their joints can predict the weather. Is that a myth, or is there some truth to it?
FACT: Research suggests weather may be linked with modest changes in pain for some people, but it’s not a reliable forecast for everyone. Cold weather isn’t the whole story: cooler days can mean moving less, and muscles may feel stiffer when you’re less active.
As temperatures drop, try simple ways to keep your routine moving:
• Dress in layers for outdoor walks.
• Take brief indoor movement breaks.
• Ease into familiar activities with a gentle warm-up.
• Choose activities and routes that feel comfortable for you.
If discomfort is persistent or limiting, an individualized evaluation can help you discuss options suited to your needs. Call MidSouth Wellness Center at (901) 403-1312 to book an appointment.
