Welcome to the World Wednesday! 👶🩵

🌟 Employee Spotlight 🌟

This week, we're proud to spotlight Samantha Ortiz, Point of Care Coordinator in our Laboratory Department!

Samantha's first job was at Sonic Drive-In, and today she plays an important role in helping ensure quality patient care through her work as both a Point of Care Coordinator and Phlebotomist. What she enjoys most about Mena Regional Health System is the positive and supportive environment where everyone works together toward the same goal—helping patients. She values the teamwork, professionalism, and compassion she sees every day and enjoys being part of a team that is dedicated to making a difference.

Outside of work, Samantha enjoys spending time with her husband and children, swimming at the pool and lake, hunting, fishing, reading, and caring for her farm animals. Her bucket list includes seeing the Northern Lights in Alaska one day!

Family is at the center of Samantha's life. She enjoys spending time with Oliviana (21), Nayeli (20), Makien (19), Aryana (18), Averi (17), Isiah (16), Kairah (12), and Kaisyn (9).

If Samantha had to describe herself in five hashtags, they would be:

Thank you, Samantha, for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to serving our patients and community!

We were honored to attend the 44th Annual Senior Citizens Day in De Queen! It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with so many members of our community, visit with familiar faces, and meet new friends along the way.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello. We always enjoy being part of events that celebrate and support our seniors, and we appreciate the warm welcome. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year! ❤️

A single tick bite can lead to a serious and potentially life-threatening allergy known as Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS).

AGS develops after certain tick bites and can cause allergic reactions after eating red meat or being exposed to products containing alpha-gal — a molecule found in most mammals like cows and pigs, but not in humans. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and may even become life-threatening.

The best protection for you and your family is preventing tick bites by using insect repellent, checking for ticks after spending time outdoors, and wearing protective clothing.

Watch this important video to learn more about Alpha-Gal Syndrome and help spread awareness in our community. 🩺🕷️

A week ago, we had the opportunity to celebrate Nurses Week and recognize the incredible nurses who care for our patients and community each and every day. 💙

From long shifts to comforting patients and families during difficult moments, our nurses do so much behind the scenes that often goes unnoticed. Their compassion, dedication, knowledge, and heart make a difference every single day at Mena Regional Health System.

We were thankful to spoil our nurses with a few goodies throughout the week as a small token of appreciation for all they do. While one week could never fully express our gratitude, we hope each of our nurses knows how valued and appreciated they truly are.

Thank you to all of our amazing nurses for the care you provide and the lives you touch every day. We are proud to have you as part of the MRHS family. 🩺
