Michael Noll Counseling, LLC Helping people connect with themselves and others to live and thrive in this mixed up world.

Struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, sexual abuse, physical abuse, grief and loss, career goals or other mental health concerns? We will meet you where you are, not where we are; this is our philosophy as therapist's. "We almost always have choices, and the better the choice, the more we will be in control of our lives." (William Glasser)

Come as you and leave a little closer to where you can be.

There's a curve to stress.
- A little bit helps you focus
- Too much and you crash

🥅 The goal isn't zero stress. It's finding the part of the curve where you can still breathe.

We draw on this curve in session often...what's yours look like?

Stress shows up in your body before your mind catches on:

· Headache
· Dry mouth
· Hard to swallow
· Heart pounding
· Nauseous or hangry
· Can't sleep

None of this means you're weak. It means your body is doing its job. We just have to teach it a different job.

Your body doesn't know the difference between a bear and a bill.

⚠️ Biology Lesson ⚠️
Hypothalamus signals pituitary. Pituitary signals adrenals. Next thing you know: heart pounding, hands cold, can't think straight. That's fight or flight.

The fight or flight response saved our ancestors. It just doesn't seem to shut off easily for us.

We usually talk about stress like it's the enemy. But not all stress is bad. There's distress — the heavy, grinding kind. And there's "eustress" (pronounced: YOU-stress). That's when you're in the zone. Things flow. Body and mind working together. This week we're talking about both.

Sundays are meant for resetting. It’s the day we gear up for the week ahead, hopefully spending some quiet time with the people who matter most under our roof.

But you can't truly be present with your family if your mind is still fighting yesterday's battles.
As we wrap up our focus on "Forgiveness and Letting Go," remember that the ultimate goal isn't just to check a box. It's to protect your peace. It’s about ensuring that when you sit down at the dinner table or watch your kids play in the yard, you are completely there—not half-present and half-stuck in an old argument.

Enjoy the peace you've fought for today.

👉 Next week: We are diving into the heavy stuff: Shame vs. Guilt. Are they the same? Different? Why does it matter to your daily life? Stay tuned.

Saturday mornings are usually for catching up on chores around the house—cleaning gutters, purging the basement, or finally organizing that chaotic corner of the garage. We do it because we know you can’t work efficiently when you’re constantly tripping over old junk you don't even use anymore.

The same rule applies to your head and your heart.

Holding onto old resentment is like saving broken, rusted parts from a project you abandoned five years ago. It takes up valuable space and serves absolutely no purpose. Today, as you're clearing out your physical spaces, take a second to look at what you’re holding onto mentally. If it’s just taking up room and keeping you heavy, it might be time to drag it to the curb.

Let's clear some space for what actually matters.

If you're feeling stuck in a loop of anger or hurt, sitting down with a pen and a blank piece of paper can change everything.

Try running your situation through these processing questions:

I am angry because...
I am feeling hurt because...
What I forgive myself for is...
What I forgive them for is...
What did I gain from this?

Taking that first step doesn't change what they did—it changes what you do next.

Ready to clear out the emotional clutter keeping your home life heavy? Here are 7 practical steps to start letting go of the past:
Let go of the baggage. Stop carrying what isn't yours to bear.

Close that chapter. The story moved on; you should too.

Quit talking about the past. Stop giving life to old ghosts.

Let go of the shame. You did the best you could with what you knew.

Enjoy today! Put your energy into the room you're actually standing in.

Practice gratitude. Notice what's going right right now.

Walk by faith, not sight. Trust the process of your own healing.

Which step do you need to take before the weekend hits?
