Your Brain Is Not The Enemy - It's Simply Waiting For New Instructions

Every rider has a version of this sentence tucked somewhere inside their identity: “This is how it's always been so this is how it will always go.” Maybe it shows up when the pressure rises. Maybe it appears the moment your horse feels a little fresh. Maybe it whispers in your ear right before y...

Imagine the Possibilities

I had a conversation with a client yesterday that felt especially meaningful, and I wanted to share it with you as we all keep learning, growing, and taking steps toward the things we care about. We talked about the difference between embracing the expectation and embracing the possibilities. At fir...

This photo captures it perfectly: pure joy.
Last month I had the privilege of supporting the Mount Holyoke Dressage Team in their final days of mental prep before Nationals. They came into each session with openness, courage, and a willingness to lean into the pressure rather than shrink from it. Hearing how they translated that work into confident, grounded rides was extraordinary.

Coach Alison Ingellis shared this reflection that says it all:
“This event was a true demonstration of personal growth and embracing abundance…They were easily the happiest team there, full of pride and without any ‘shoulda‑coulda‑wouldas.’ Your session moved miles in them.”

So proud of this team and the heart they brought to every moment.

"In a world where so many focus on results and rankings, these are the moments that stand out. They remind us that we don't have to choose a side. That elite performance and genuine horsemanship don't have to be at odds. That success does not have to come at the expense of the horse and that when it's done right - really right - welfare, respect and performance can coexist."

Regardless of where you stand on horses in sport, there is something undeniably refreshing about watching a rider so in tune with their horse.

What is even more refreshing, is hearing a rider speak with such modesty and honesty, giving all credit to the horse beneath them, not performatively, not for the cameras, but genuinely and authentically.

Listening to Ros Canter speak about her run today, you'd almost forget just how exceptionally talented she is, because it's never about her - it's always about the horse, the partnership and how they allow her to ride.

In a world where so many focus on results and rankings, these are the moments stand out.

They remind us that we don't have to choose a side. That elite performance and genuine horsemanship don't have to be at odds. That success does not have to come at the expense of the horse and that when it's done right - really right - welfare, respect and performance can coexist.

It's not perfect, there is still work to do, but riders like Ros are proof that it maybe, just maybe, it is possible and there is a future for our sport where horses are not merely performance tools.

If it can be done this way, then anything less is a choice.

Rewriting Our Relationship With the Feelings We Experience

One of the most powerful — and often overlooked — skills in our mental game is learning to create new relationships with the feelings that show up in the saddle. Not suppressing them. Not fighting them. Not pretending they aren’t there. Instead, we learn to reinterpret them so they work for us...

I’ve been fielding a lot of “Wait… you do what?” lately, and honestly, I get it. “Clinical social worker turned equestrian mindset coach” isn’t a combo you hear every day. Most folks don’t know I spent years as a professional trainer, so the niche tends to catch people off guard in the best way.

So here’s the backstory — the winding route that brought me to the work I love.

you probably would have classified me as a passionate, horse-crazed girl...willing to do just about anything in pursuit of a career training and competing horses.
