If your instinct is to go quiet, disappear, or handle it alone when things get hard, this is your survival response and not a sign that your broken. You’ve learned that isolation feels safer than being seen.
Here’s what we know about the nervous system: healing doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in connection.
We’re not meant to just self-soothe in a vacuum.
We’re wired to sync with the nervous systems around us; to borrow steadiness from someone else’s embodiment, to let another person’s presence tell our body it’s safe to be.
That’s how we’re biologically wired (and idk about you, but I find that pretty cool!)
So if your fight-or-flight response kicks in the moment someone tries to get close while you’re struggling, or being in a community space makes you feel triggered, that instinct isn’t “wrong.”
It’s just been trained to expect distance as the only path to safety.
Healing isn’t meant to be a solo project. Hyper-independence isn’t the path for being “strong” and “resilient.”
And what we’ve found to be true over the thousands of nervous systems we’ve worked with, there is medicine in that which you avoid.
Discomfort isn’t a red flag, it’s actually the invitation.
And staying present in the discomfort, whether it’s with connection or something else in life, is what creates the most profound healing breakthroughs🤍
We’re here to see your shine in your greatness, my friend.
