Join Gladys Annan and collaborators for a timely discussion comparing Endoscopic Therapy and Esophagectomy for T1bN0M0 Esophageal Adenocarcinoma.
Using contemporary SEER data from 422 patients, the study found no clear difference in overall survival or cancer-specific mortality after adjustment. Tumor size and grade did not clearly identify which patients benefited more from either treatment.
The findings highlight the need for individualized, risk-stratified treatment decisions—considering overall health, pathology, nodal risk and surgical candidacy.
