Before every knee replacement, Dr. Corbett Winegar performs a meticulous surgical hand scrub using a sterile technique designed to help reduce the risk of infection.

✔ Every fingernail is cleaned.
✔ Every surface of every finger is scrubbed.
✔ Hands, wrists, and forearms are cleaned using a specific sequence.
✔ Water is rinsed from the fingertips toward the elbows to help maintain the cleanest area.
✔ After scrubbing, the hands remain elevated and untouched until sterile gowning and gloving.

What is arthroscopic knee surgery?

It's one of the most common questions we hear.

Arthroscopic surgery allows Dr. Corbett Winegar to diagnose and treat many knee conditions through tiny "keyhole" incisions using a specialized camera and miniature instruments. The camera provides a detailed view inside the knee, allowing damaged tissue to be repaired, trimmed, or smoothed with precision.

Depending on the condition, arthroscopy may be used to treat:
• Meniscus tears
• Cartilage injuries
• Loose cartilage or bone fragments
• Inflamed tissue
• Certain ligament injuries

Not every knee problem requires surgery, and not every condition can be treated arthroscopically. An accurate diagnosis is the first step in determining the best treatment for your knee.

Partial or Total Knee Replacement? The answer depends on where the arthritis is located.

A partial knee replacement preserves the healthy parts of the knee and replaces only the damaged compartment. A total knee replacement is typically recommended when arthritis affects multiple areas of the joint.
