My son is home, recovering, and doing well ❤️
A few weeks ago, we found out my 2-year-old son needed surgery.
What some people don't know is that the last time I had a child in the OR, she didn't come home.
Since learning my son needed surgery, PTSD symptoms started creeping back in. The nightmares returned. The panic attacks returned. The fear returned.
As both a therapist and someone who uses microcurrent neurofeedback, I decided to document my experience in real time.
My goal isn't to eliminate anxiety. A parent most likely WILL feel anxious when their child is having surgery.
My goal was to stay present.
Today, my son came home safe.
My personal takeaway? Neurofeedback didn't erase the fear, but it helped me move through it without being consumed by it.
This isn't medical advice or a research study. Just one mom sharing her honest experience.
