☀️ Summer Time Chaos & Self-Care ☀️

Summer is supposed to be relaxing, but for many people it’s anything but. Between family vacations, kids out of school, outdoor projects, sports, travel, and long days in the Louisiana heat, your body often pays the price.

Have you noticed:
✔️ Tight shoulders from driving and travel?
✔️ Achy feet from vacations and outdoor activities?
✔️ Increased headaches and neck tension?
✔️ Lower back pain from yard work and home projects?
✔️ Fatigue from trying to keep up with a busy schedule?

Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s maintenance.

Massage therapy helps reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, decrease stress, and give your body the recovery time it needs to keep doing the things you enjoy.

Think of it this way: You schedule maintenance for your vehicle before a breakdown. Your body deserves the same attention.

This summer, don’t wait until pain forces you to slow down. Take time to recharge, recover, and invest in your health.

Your schedule is busy. Your body doesn’t have to suffer because of it.

💆‍♂️ What Are You Really Paying For During a Massage Session? 💆‍♀️

Many people think they’re paying for 60, 90, or 120 minutes on a massage table. In reality, you’re paying for much more than time.

✔️ Professional education and training
✔️ Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology
✔️ Assessment of muscle dysfunction and movement limitations
✔️ Treatment planning tailored to your specific needs
✔️ Continuing education to stay current with best practices
✔️ Professional liability insurance and licensing requirements
✔️ Clean linens, equipment, supplies, and office overhead
✔️ Documentation and treatment records
✔️ Years of hands-on experience developing clinical skills

When you receive a massage, you’re not simply paying for someone to rub muscles. You’re investing in a healthcare professional’s knowledge, experience, clinical judgment, and ability to help improve pain, mobility, function, and overall well-being.

The session itself may last an hour, but the expertise behind that hour often represents years of education, training, practice, and professional development.

The true value of massage therapy isn’t measured by the clock—it’s measured by the quality of care you receive.

What is the biggest benefit you’ve experienced from professional massage therapy?

📝 SOAP Notes: More Than Just Paperwork

One of the most important tools a massage therapist can use isn’t found on the treatment table—it’s proper documentation.

What are SOAP Notes?

SOAP stands for:

S – Subjective: What the client reports (pain, symptoms, concerns, goals, changes since the last session)

O – Objective: What the therapist observes and finds through assessment and palpation

A – Assessment: Clinical impressions and how the client’s condition is progressing

P – Plan: The treatment performed and recommendations for future care

Why Are SOAP Notes Important?

✅ Create a record of care
✅ Track client progress over time
✅ Improve treatment planning and outcomes
✅ Support communication with healthcare providers when appropriate
✅ Demonstrate professionalism and clinical reasoning
✅ Provide legal protection for both the client and therapist

Why Should Massage Therapists Document Every Session?

If it wasn’t documented, it didn’t happen.

Documentation helps therapists identify patterns, monitor improvements, recognize setbacks, and ensure continuity of care. It also shows clients that their treatment is being approached with intention and professionalism rather than simply providing a routine massage.

Whether your client is seeking relief from chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or maintaining wellness, detailed SOAP notes help ensure that every session builds upon the last.

Great therapists don’t just treat what they feel today—they document what they discover so they can provide better care tomorrow.

Professional care begins with professional documentation.

Male massage therapists make up only about 15–25% of the workforce.

Let me be transparent with you all. I get asked all the time, “How’s business?” My answer is usually, “It’s okay.” And truthfully, for me, it is okay.

I’m a massage therapist — and I’m a male therapist. What I’m not is a salesman. I honestly struggle with that part. When I entered this vocation, I understood there would be obstacles and misconceptions to overcome. But I also believe wholeheartedly that God places certain individuals in our lives for a reason. Through trust, care, and word of mouth, more people will come.

In the Book of Acts, Peter said, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee.” Peter had faith. Like Peter, I choose to have faith in both my purpose and God’s divine providence.

My prices are fairly inexpensive compared to many therapists. The difference is that my livelihood does not depend solely on this work. As a 100% service-connected veteran, I do this because I genuinely want to help people reclaim mobility, reduce pain, and restore freedom from soft tissue restrictions and injuries.

To everyone who has booked a session and trusted me with your care — thank you. Your trust means more than you know.

These three observances honor different groups and serve different purposes in the United States:

Memorial Day
•Military personnel who died while serving.
•A day of remembrance and mourning for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the nation.
•Last Monday in May

Armed Forces Day
•Active-duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
•A day to recognize and thank those currently serving in the military.
•Third Saturday in May

Veterans Day
•All military veterans, living and deceased.
•A day to honor everyone who has served in the U.S. military.
•November 11

In simple terms:

* Memorial Day = honoring those who died in service
* Armed Forces Day = honoring those currently serving
* Veterans Day = honoring all who served

A respectful distinction often emphasized:

* Memorial Day is generally considered a more solemn day of reflection and remembrance.

* Veterans Day and Armed Forces Day are more focused on appreciation, recognition, and gratitude toward service members and veterans.

For me, Memorial Day is observed much like Good Friday — a solemn remembrance of ultimate sacrifice. Through Christ’s sacrifice at Calvary, we are freed from the darkness of sin and given the hope of eternal life. Through the sacrifice of the brave men and women who gave their lives in defense of our nation, we are blessed with the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today.

This Memorial Day weekend, may we take time to reflect with gratitude, honor those who gave everything, and never take our freedom for granted. Let their sacrifice inspire us to live with purpose, faith, and appreciation for the blessings we have.

Have a meaningful and blessed Memorial Day from Muscular Therapy by Keith, LLC.
