✨ SELF-DEVELOPMENT IS AN INVESTMENT IN YOURSELF. ✨

We spend so much time investing in our careers, our homes, our families, and our future—but how often do we intentionally invest in ourselves?

Self-development is about becoming more aware, learning new perspectives, challenging old beliefs, and continuing to grow into the person you want to become.

📚 One simple way to start? Read.

Self-help and personal development books can help you:

🧠 Gain new perspectives
💪 Build confidence and resilience
🎯 Set clearer goals
❤️ Improve your relationships
🌱 Break unhealthy patterns
💡 Discover new ideas and possibilities
✨ Become more intentional about the life you’re creating

You don't have to read an entire book in a weekend. Even 10–15 minutes a day can introduce you to an idea that changes the way you think, respond, or approach your life.

The goal isn't to become a completely different person.

It's to keep becoming a better version of yourself.

And sometimes, one chapter, one idea, or one sentence is all it takes to shift your perspective. 💫

What's a self-development book that has made an impact on you? 📖👇

One of the biggest things we can do to improve our mood daily and our life in a huge way....

STOP COMPLAINING
STOP GOSSIPPING
STOP BEING NEGATIVE

All of these behvaiors create negativity in your life and allow others to also create negativity as well.
I love to follow the rule of "Misery Loves Company".

Here is what we can do instead:
1. Instead of complaining, identify what is causing upset or issues in your life and learn or seek support in ways you can improve that area.
2. Instead of gossiping, have a rule that "we don't talk about others who are not in the room with us." Redirect conversations in which others are gossiping or remove yourself.
3. Start and end your day with two gratitude statements: I am thankful for, I am grateful for
4. Avoid language that includes "I have to...., I cant....."

For more tips and tricks, continue to follow Willowtree.

A lot of people pull away from change that will help them level up their lives. This is because change = discomfort. So how do we promote and welcome change? We learn how to ease and cope with the discomfort while continue to push forward through the change. Here are a couple of TRUTHS that help us do that:
1. Understand that we are human, we have flaws, we are not perfect nor will we ever be. BUT, we are capable of change and improvement and growth is a part of the human experience.
2. Discomfort is just feedback. Feedback that something in the environment is shifting, that triggers your alert system to be activated. All this does is push you to think critically, and plan your next move.
3. When change is occurring, if you don't have a direction, it'll feel messy. This is why goal setting is so important. Each goal should have at least 2 to 3 small ways to achieve that goal. The easiest way to this is this: "What do I want?" "What are two things I can do soon/now to move me towards that?"
4. Practice being comfortable with the discomfort of the unknown. No matter how much you plan out, everything is still unknown. Planning just improves the odds of your goals coming to reality.

What's one thing you know you should be doing to improve your life but haven't started yet? Maybe it's setting clearer boundaries, prioritizing self-care, or making time for meaningful connections. Taking that first step can feel challenging, but it often leads to the greatest growth. And growth often comes with discomfort. Sometimes we need an accountability partner to help us through discomfort, and that is okay. Willowtree is here to help. Follow us for psychoeducation and support through your journey ahead.

So what is it, really? Self-accountability is the ability to follow through on what you said you’d do, even after the motivation that inspired the goal has packed up and left.

The people who are good at it tend to share a few habits:

People who are successful in life regularly hold themselves accountable. They don't have some secrete gene that helped them do this. They learned it. Here are a couple things that people who are regularly accountable do differently:
1. They turn vague intentions into specific plans.
2. They build routines and stick to a schedule.
3. They protect their focus from distraction.
4. They think long-term and can break a bad habit.

Notice anything? None of those are personality traits. They’re behaviors, which means they can be learned and strengthened, by you, starting now.

The one big idea tying it all together: stop waiting on motivation to show up on the hard days, and build structure that carries you when it doesn’t.

Action step: Pick one goal you keep starting and dropping (you know the one). You’ll run it through each strategy below.

Here is a quick mental shift that can help shift you when your feeling drained.
Use "I get to" instead of " I have to..." This works wonders for everything. Example, when we get overwhelmed with work and we tell ourselves "Aww man, I have to work again today.I dont want to go." Instead, tell yourself "I get to go to work today. I am thankful that I have a job because some do not have a job. I chose to do this job and I chose to be responsible for the tasks in this job today."
Don't want to clean your home today? Tell yourself " I get to clean a home. I am so happy that I have a home to clean." Catch yourself with those victimizing statements and flip them into statements of gratitude.
