🍋💛 Shout-Out to Our Main Squeezes!! Happy National Senior Citizens Day from Active Day Merrillville! 💛🍋

Today was all about celebrating the incredible seniors who fill our center with wisdom, personality, laughter, stories, and so much heart. We hosted a special Lemonade Social because life truly is sweeter with our seniors! ☀️

Our members enjoyed a colorful lemonade stand with peach mango, blue raspberry, cherry watermelon, kiwi lime, and cotton candy flavors, along cheesecake pudding and Golden Oreos, & with plenty of time to relax, socialize, and enjoy each other’s company. 🍹✨

National Senior Citizens Day is a wonderful reminder to recognize the experiences, contributions, and joy older adults bring to our families and communities every single day. We feel incredibly lucky to spend our days with such a wonderful group.

Here’s to celebrating our seniors today and every day! 🍋💐💛

🐾💙 Puppy Day is ALWAYS a favorite at Active Day Merrillville! 💙🐾

There’s just something about tiny paws, wagging tails, and puppy cuddles that brings out the biggest smiles! 🐶🥰 Our members loved spending time with these adorable little visitors, whether they were giving belly rubs, sneaking in a cuddle, or simply enjoying all that puppy energy.

Activities like this are about so much more than having fun. They give our members opportunities for connection, comfort, companionship, and plenty of joy. And judging by these smiles, we think the puppies enjoyed all the attention just as much as we enjoyed having them! 🐾❤️

Thank you to our furry friends for making our day a little brighter. We’re already looking forward to the next Puppy Day with Petland ! 🐶✨

Do you have a heart for helping others, a creative spirit, and the energy to make every day a little brighter? We may be looking for YOU! 🌟

Active Day Merrillville is currently hiring a Program Assistant to join our amazing team!

Our Program Assistants play a BIG part in making our center a fun, safe, welcoming place for our members. From helping plan and lead creative recreational activities 🎨🎲🎶 to assisting members with their daily needs, serving meals and snacks, and helping keep our center bright and inviting, no two days are exactly the same!

💙 We’re looking for someone who is:
• Compassionate, patient, dependable, and positive
• Comfortable working with seniors and adults with special needs
• Creative and ready to jump into activities and programs
• A great communicator and team player
• Able to provide hands-on assistance to our members when needed
• Ready to help us create days filled with purpose, connection, laughter, and FUN!

Healthcare or similar experience is preferred, but prior experience working with seniors or adults with special needs is not required.

We have power; praise a lineman! Thank you to those working hard to return power to NWI! Active Day is open normal business hours 7AM - 5PM today Friday, August 14th!

Active Day Merrillville and it’s transportation services will be closed today on August 12th due to power outages and unsafe travel conditions. We are trying to spread the word and appreciate anyone sharing this information. Everyone please stay safe and we will update you on tomorrow as soon as possible.

Due to the severe weather, Active Day Merrillville lost power and we are closing early. We will be monitoring the weather, and our power and let everyone know if we will be able to provide services tomorrow. Thank you for your cooperation.

📚🦋 Creativity is always in full bloom at Active Day Merrillville!

Today our members put their own creative spin on bookmark making, designing colorful bookmarks filled with butterflies, beads, beautiful sayings, and plenty of personality! 💚💙❤️

We love activities that give everyone the freedom to create something completely their own, and these bookmarks turned out wonderfully unique. Now we just need a good book to go with them! 📖✨

🥤🤎 Nothing says summer quite like a Root Beer Float! 🤎🥤

Our Active Day Merrillville family celebrated National Root Beer Float Day with a sweet afternoon treat that brought smiles all around! Members enjoyed delicious root beer floats while spending time together, sharing conversations, and making new memories.

Sometimes it’s the simple things, like a frosty float with creamy ice cream and fizzy root beer, that bring the biggest smiles. Seeing everyone enjoy this classic favorite made for a wonderful afternoon full of laughter and happy faces.
