📰 Our May 2026 New Beginnings Clubhouse Newsletter is Here!

May was a busy and exciting month at New Beginnings Clubhouse as we celebrated Mental Health Awareness Month and continued creating opportunities for our members. ✨

Highlights from this month's newsletter include:

🎀 Open House & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony celebrating our new Employment & Education Center

🎥 Featured on WGN 9 News! Sarah, DaShawn, and Matt helped spread awareness about the Clubhouse model and mental health recovery.

🎤 DaShawn, Cassie, and Ty shared their personal experiences during the Open House.

💼 Community outreach efforts, including a Provider Fair, Business Expo, and outreach at Lake Park Residential.

🎓 Official opening of our Employment & Education Room focused on GED preparation, employment readiness, computer literacy, budgeting, English literacy, reading literacy, and life skills.

🧠 Completion of our Mental Health Documentary, now available on YouTube.

💙 Participation in Clubhouse Giving Day for the first time in New Beginnings Clubhouse history.

🏆 Member Spotlight recognizing DaShawn for his outreach efforts through email and in-person community engagement.

🌈💙 New Beginnings Clubhouse at NWI PrideFest 2026 💙🌈

New Beginnings Clubhouse was proud to be part of NWI Pride 2026!

Our members and staff worked side by side to support our vendor table, share information about the Clubhouse model, connect with the community, and promote mental health awareness, inclusion, and belonging throughout the day.

One of our members, Dashawn Peterson, was on double duty during PrideFest, helping represent New Beginnings Clubhouse while also serving on the NWI PrideFest social media team. His involvement reflects the power of community engagement, leadership, and the opportunities that the Clubhouse model can help create.

It was also a special moment running into our former colleague Maddie and reconnecting during the event. Moments like these remind us how connected our community truly is.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, shared conversations with us, and helped make PrideFest 2026 such a meaningful experience. We are grateful to be part of a community that celebrates inclusion, recovery, and belonging for all. 💙

🎉 Member Achievement Spotlight 🎉

Congratulations to New Beginnings Clubhouse member Dashawn "Shawny" Peterson on being featured in an Illinois Media School Alumni Success Spotlight!

In the feature, DaShawn reflects on his journey in broadcasting, digital media, advocacy, and community engagement since graduating from Illinois Media School (Downtown Chicago Campus) in November 2025. We are especially proud that New Beginnings Clubhouse was recognized as part of that journey, highlighting the important role community, opportunity, and support can play in helping individuals pursue their goals.

DaShawn has been an active member of New Beginnings Clubhouse since 2019 and has contributed to outreach, media projects, advocacy efforts, and community events. His story demonstrates how members can build skills, gain confidence, and create meaningful opportunities through the Clubhouse model.

We are honored to be a part of DaShawn's continued success and look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next.
