A little glimpse of the Community Hospice House on this beautiful bluebird day.

The gardens surrounding the Hospice House offer more than beautiful scenery. They change from day to day, with new flowers blooming and something different to notice during each visit. These peaceful spaces give patients and families a place to pause, reflect and spend meaningful time together.

We are grateful for our dedicated volunteer garden team, whose care helps make every bloom and every quiet moment of comfort possible.

Sometimes, comfort is found in the little things.

When you walk into the Community Hospice House, you may be greeted by the aroma of something baking. Turn to the left, and you'll find a table spread with cookies, coffee cake, muffins, fruit, and, of course, coffee. Families gather around the table to share conversation, memories, and a few treats before returning to their loved one's room.

Behind the scenes, our cooks prepare meals with both comfort and care in mind. Homemade soups are always in high demand, and whenever possible, they do their best to provide favorite foods and honor special requests. They also work closely with our nurses to ensure every meal meets each patient's medical and dietary needs.

At the Community Hospice House, every meal and every fresh-baked treat is another way we care for patients and the families who love them.

We were honored to welcome members of the Barnes family to the Community Hospice House gardens to see the beautiful trees and plants made possible through their generous gift in memory of their loved ones.

Pictured in front of the graceful Dwarf Dawn Redwood 'Miss Grace,' the family had the opportunity to see just one of several additions to the gardens. Their gift also helped plant a Black Gum (Black Tupelo) tree, Summersweet shrubs, Midnight Sun plants that attract hummingbirds with vibrant pink trumpet-shaped blooms, and Purslane groundcover that opens each morning with the sun and closes again at dusk.

Gifts like these help ensure our gardens remain a place of beauty, comfort, and quiet reflection for patients, families, and visitors. We are deeply grateful to the Barnes family for their generosity and the lasting legacy they have created.

The gardens at our Community Hospice House are more than just a beautiful place to visit. They become part of the journey for so many of the patients and families we serve.

A quiet walk, the scent of lavender, birdsong, or simply a moment to pause can offer comfort in ways words sometimes cannot.

A heartfelt thank you to the Symphony NH ensemble for sharing the gift of music at the Community Hospice House yesterday. 🎻💙

This special performance was offered free of charge as part of the Symphony’s spirit of giving back to the community through music, and it brought moments of peace, comfort, and reflection to patients, families, visitors, staff, and volunteers throughout the House.

We were especially honored to welcome back violinist Lynn Basilia and cellist Nathaniel Lathrop, whose music once again filled CHH with warmth and beauty.

Recently, we received this note from a family after their dad’s stay at the Hospice House.

“We are profoundly grateful and truly blessed to have experienced the compassionate and loving care shown by every staff member and volunteer our family encountered while my dad was at the Hospice House. From the moment we arrived, we realized this was truly heaven on earth.

Within such a tender time, we quickly formed personal connections with what began as strangers. Sharing stories brought laughter, tears, and warm hugs filled with love and strength that helped us carry on. The sense of comfort and understanding we felt is beyond words.

A very heartfelt thank you to our dad’s caregivers and the devoted volunteers who so generously gave of themselves. Their gentle strength, calming presence, and the visits from therapy dogs brought immense comfort and peace.

We will forever carry this experience in our hearts.”
