On September 3, 1982, the Medicare hospice benefit was signed into law, helping make compassionate end-of-life care available to more patients and families across the country.

Today, on its 44th anniversary, we recognize the lasting impact of this milestone and the hospice professionals, volunteers and advocates who continue to ensure that every person can experience comfort, dignity and support at the end of life.

That feeling when it's been a week and you need a little pick-me-up...

We hadn’t seen our sweet friend Juniper in a while, so her visit was just what the HHHC team needed. She brought plenty of smiles and a much-needed dose of puppy love. It was so good to see her again! 💙🐾

Today is National Grief Awareness Day, a reminder that grief looks different for everyone and follows no set timeline.

Whether a loss is recent or many years past, moments of sadness, longing and remembrance can surface when we least expect them. Be gentle with yourself, and with others who may be carrying a loss we cannot see.

Home Health & Hospice Care offers free grief support to adults throughout our community. You do not have to navigate grief alone.

Join us for an open and thoughtful conversation about death, dying and living fully. There is no agenda and no pressure, just a welcoming space to listen, share and connect over coffee and refreshments.

Today we’re celebrating all the good dogs…and the kinda naughty ones, too. ❤️

We’re especially grateful for our wonderful pet therapy dogs, who bring comfort, companionship, smiles and plenty of tail wags to our patients, families and staff.

Congratulations to Michelle Costa, RN Team Leader, for being named the Stahl Excellence in Service Award recipient for August!

Made possible through the generosity of Richard Stahl, the Stahl Award recognizes employees who go above and beyond in caring for our patients and supporting one another.

Michelle’s colleagues describe her as a friendly, funny and efficient team leader who is always willing to go the extra mile to support our field staff. She is responsive, communicates well and is always ready to help problem-solve.

One colleague shared, “I’m thankful to work with her. She makes a difference!”

Parents across our community are busy preparing their children to head back to school this week and next. One of our thoughtful bereavement volunteers made these adorable back-to-school treat bags for the children of our staff members, helping make the start of a new school year a little sweeter.

We are so grateful for the many ways our volunteers show kindness to our patients, families and team.

We are incredibly grateful to Crane Currency employee Morgan Doherty, who nominated Home Health & Hospice Care to receive a generous $5,000 grant from the Crane Charitable Funds.

Morgan personally delivered the check yesterday to Director of Philanthropy Paula Telage at the Community Hospice House.

As shared in the accompanying letter, “This commitment to philanthropy not only strengthens communities but also unites employees around a shared purpose, helping Home Health & Hospice Care and Crane Currency create lasting impact for today and future generations.”
