We hosted a Father's Day supper for the gentlemen of the community, complete with brats, beer, German apple cake, and a soundtrack of polka music.

The group spent the evening swapping stories, tackling sports and history trivia, and enjoying time together. One resident even claimed the unofficial title for most children in the room with five.

It was a great way to celebrate Father's Day weekend with good food, good company, and plenty of laughs.

An afternoon of great music and an even greater cause 🎷✨
Our Las Palomas "Jazzbirds" recently enjoyed a trip to Ravenscroft's Jazz for the Soul program, where incredible live jazz supports meaningful charitable organizations in the community.

Residents were captivated by the original compositions, unique instruments, and talented musicians of The Local Spirits. Knowing the performance also benefited UMOM, an organization supporting unhoused mothers and children, made the experience even more meaningful.

Great music, great company, and a chance to give back. That's a day well spent. 💛

We were delighted and enlightened by our entertainer Jim Tharp. Jim has a background in music therapy and took the time to teach us about how he learned to play and improve upon his guitar skills. According to Jim, "there's no such thing as a self-taught musician! Even musicians that don't have a formal music education learn by watching others."

He showed us various ways to play the guitar, like the difference between "Chicken Picking" and "Travis Picking" (a technique he learned from guitar great Merle Travis.) Thank you, Jim, for taking the time to teach us more about music, the universal language that all of us understand and appreciate.

Did you know we have our very own wildlife sanctuary right outside our windows? 🦉🌿✨

Las Palomas is officially a bird-watcher's paradise! From our Memory Care residents spotting baby quail in the courtyard to our resident photographer, Shaun, capturing the most stunning shots of our local baby owls and hummingbirds all grown up, nature is putting on quite the show.

Swirling skirts, upbeat folk music, and the beautiful sight of hands joined together in a circle! 🇸🇪🇳🇴🎶

Our amazing E&P Director, Osa, gave the ladies in our community the ultimate Mother's Day weekend gift: a spectacular live performance by her very own group, The Scandinavian Folk Dancers of Phoenix! With Norwegian Independence Day just around the corner on May 17th, it was the perfect time to celebrate. The dancers showcased incredible routines from various countries and shared the fascinating history behind their traditional costumes.

But the true highlight? Watching our residents and their visiting family members step out of their comfort zones to join in on the circle dances! The joy, love, and laughter in the room were absolutely contagious. We had a blast and cannot wait for their next visit!
