Is Your Phone a Pain in the Neck?
Letโs be honest, weโre all doing it. Sitting there hunched over our phones or laptops for way too long. I catch myself doing it constantly.
That whole posture thing? Itโs what people call โtech neck,โ and it can lead to stiffness, headaches, and that annoying tight feeling in your shoulders that just wonโt go away. Your head actually feels heavier in that position, so your neck is working overtime.
Before it turns into something worse, here are a few simple stretches I always recommend. Nothing crazy, you can do these pretty much anywhere.
Chin tucks
Sit up straight and gently pull your chin back (like youโre giving yourself a double chin). It feels a little awkward, not gonna lie. Hold for about 5 seconds and do it a few times. It really helps reset your posture.
Ear to shoulder
Tilt your ear toward your shoulder until you feel a stretch on the opposite side. Donโt force it. If you want a little more stretch, you can lightly use your hand. Hold for like 15โ20 seconds, then switch.
โSniff your armpitโ stretch
I know, weird name. Turn your head slightly and look down toward your armpit. Youโll feel it along the back of your neck. Hold it, breathe, then switch sides.
Doorway chest stretch
Stand in a doorway, put your arms on the frame, and lean forward a bit. This helps open up your chest since weโre all so rounded forward all the time.
It doesnโt have to be perfect. Just doing a few of these during the day can make a big difference.
