There’s something about a rooster that says: the day has begun—go meet it.

Across cultures, roosters have been connected with beginnings, protection, courage, and good fortune. In Korean Minhwa, they welcome light and help keep harmful energy away from the home.

That spirit comes through in Meekyung Shin’s Welcoming Blessings #10: don’t just wait for good things to arrive. Step forward and meet them.

Meekyung Shin's () "Welcoming Blessings #3" shows a tiger in the midst of leaping fish.

In Korean minhwa, the tiger is a familiar figure. It often represents a guardian or a protector watching over a home or whatever it shares its space with. One reading of this piece: the tiger is guarding the fishes' leap.

Why would leaping fish want a guardian? (And a goofy-looking one, at that.)

It goes back to a legend called Dragon Gate—a story about the risk of leaping toward something bigger than yourself. Leap far enough, and you become something new.

It connects to Meekyung's message for this Welcoming Blessings series: step forward to meet your blessings instead of waiting for them.

Flower Flow: Paintings by Meekyung Shin and Yesang Lee

These two Korean minhwa artists take traditional symbols and add their own modern interpretation.

Today, we feature a collection of their works featuring flowers. Iconic symbols of beauty in nearly every culture, in these minhwa paintings, flowers embody messages about life and its spiritual essence.

Rebecca Bond’s Chakra Series

“I created the Chakra Series as a visual journey of healing, alignment, and awakening. Each painting represents an energy center within the body—a balance between the physical and the spiritual, the seen and unseen.

As I painted through each chakra, I found myself reconnecting to forgotten parts of my own being: grounding in safety, opening to love, reclaiming my voice, and remembering my connection to the divine.”

- Rebecca Bond ()

You can use Rebecca’s chakra energy art as a focus for your meditation or to incorporate into a healing or spiritual practice…

And they're also simply beautiful pieces of art that can bring a strong, intentional dose of color into your space.

- In a room of neutrals, a single piece can be the focal point the space was missing.

- In a room full of patterns, a bold chakra color adds another layer of visual interest.

- On a long wall, hallway, or staircase, all seven pieces become the full chakra energy body from root to crown.

Each painting carries its own color and energy.

Step forward with a hopeful heart and welcome the blessings waiting to be discovered.

In Meekyung Shin’s new-to-CYE Welcoming Blessings series, tigers, birds, horses, and rabbits move freely through a world inspired by traditional Korean minhwa. Each carries its own story of good fortune while living in harmony with nature and one another.

For Meekyung ), blessings are (a way of living. We find them in everyday life and cultivate them with care, layer by layer.

The original works were created with acrylic ink on embossed wood panels, allowing the carved textures and accumulated marks to become part of each story. At Change Your Energy, you can bring their joyful spirit home as framed paper or framed canvas prints.

Which blessing would you welcome into your space?

Traditional Korean art doesn’t need a traditional room.

The rich colors, intricate details, and meaningful symbols of Korean folk art can create a beautiful contrast with clean lines, neutral walls, and contemporary furnishings.

And these images can bring more than visual interest to a space. Flowers, dragons, books, mountains, and other familiar subjects in Korean art have long carried wishes and meanings connected with qualities such as abundance, vitality, wisdom, harmony, and good fortune.

You don’t have to redesign your room around the art. Give one meaningful piece some breathing room, let it become a focal point, and look for small connections in color or feeling with the things you already own.

Sometimes an old symbol in a modern room is exactly what makes the space feel like your own.

For artist Karina Woldt (), painting is a way of healing.

Throughout her life, art has given her a place to work through emotions, enter a state of flow, and return to the present moment. Again and again, her inspiration leads her back to nature, especially the sea: a place she describes as one of tranquility, restoration, and renewed energy.

That connection flows through her paintings in waves, mountains, light, flowers, animals, and the human spirit.

Karina hopes her art can offer others some of what creating it gives her: a moment to slow down, reconnect, and feel uplifted.

What place in nature helps you feel restored?
