Yesterday offered a reminder that is easy to lose in the pace of everyday life.

Watching the Big Bay Boom, the West Coastโ€™s largest fireworks display, from the ocean was truly breathtaking. The sky lit up in color, reflecting across the water, with the Naval base and city skyline in the distance. It was a powerful backdrop for celebrating Americaโ€™s 250th birthday and reflecting on the freedoms that bring people together.

What stood out most was the shared experience. Thousands gathered from every walk of life, united under one sky. For a brief moment, differences faded, strangers connected, and there was a collective sense of wonder and gratitude. It was a beautiful reminder that, despite everything happening in the world, we have far more that unites us than divides us.

In the middle of busy lives and constant demands, moments like these matter. They highlight the importance of pausing, being present, and appreciating time with the people who matter most. Not because life slows down, but because we choose to step into it fully when we can.

In the work many of us do, especially supporting individuals with special needs and those who rely on HCBS services, freedom also has a very real and personal meaning. It is found in advocacy, in ensuring voices are heard, and in standing together to protect the supports that allow people to live with dignity and independence. Even when systems feel uncertain or under pressure, coming together in numbers has always been where change begins. Looking back at how far we have come reminds us that progress is possible, and collective voices matter.

Last night also carried a deeply personal reminder of that truth. My son, Cole, who has a developmental disability, experienced the beauty of the celebration alongside everyone else. With the right supports, he and many others, are able to fully participate in their communities, share in these moments, and belong in spaces that bring people together. These experiences become grounding reminders we carry forward, long after the lights fade and everyday routines return.

Happy 250th Birthday, America. Here is to freedom, community, advocacy, and the moments that bring us all back to what matters most. Supporting one another and strengthening our sense of community.

Hope you all had a great 4th of July! What we experienced last night as nothing short of beautiful.

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the countless brave men and women who sacrificed so much for our freedom. Many gave up precious time with their families, missed important moments, and courageously served our country so we could live freely each day.

Because of their sacrifice, we have the freedom to gather with loved ones, build our communities, support one another, and live with hope and opportunity. These are freedoms we should never take for granted.

This weekend, take a moment to pause with grateful hearts to remember those who gave everything for our country. Thank you to all who have served and sacrificed for the freedoms we cherish every day. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Happy Motherโ€™s Day to all the incredible moms , especially those raising children with special needs. Today, we honor and celebrate your strength, love, and unwavering dedication.

Your days are filled with challenges many people will never fully see or understand. Yet somehow, you continue to show up with strength, patience, fierce love, and unwavering dedication. You advocate, encourage, comfort, teach, protect, and celebrate every victory, big or small, with a heart that never quits.

Your child is so incredibly lucky to have you. The love you pour into them is shaping a life filled with safety, confidence, and unconditional acceptance. You are their voice when they need one, their safe place in hard moments, and their biggest champion every single day.

Please never underestimate the impact you make. The world may not always see the countless sacrifices, sleepless nights, appointments, therapies, worries, and victories behind the scenes, but they matter. You matter.

Today, we honor all the moms who love so deeply, give so selflessly, and show up every single day with strength and grace. Your resilience is inspiring, your compassion is powerful, and your love is truly changing lives.

Happy Motherโ€™s Day to some of the strongest women we know. Your kiddos are blessed beyond measure to call you Mom.

This season looks different in every home we serve.
Different traditions. Different celebrations. Different ways of finding meaning.

And yetโ€ฆ WE ARE UNITED.

United as parents who love fiercely and protect endlessly.
United as providers who show up, day after day, with patience, compassion, and hearts big enough to hold someone elseโ€™s child.
United as a village that refuses to let anyone walk alone.

This year has not been easy.
There were moments of darkness, uncertainty, exhaustion, worry, and quiet tears after long days.

But there was also light.

Light in the small victories others may never see.
Light in the laughter that broke through hard moments.
Light in the hands that reached out when someone needed help the most.

As a mom of a child with special needs, I see it from both sides. I feel the fear, the hope, the gratitude, and the overwhelming love. And I see, firsthand, the impact of a community that chooses kindness, dignity, and care.

To our families: thank you for trusting us with what matters most.
To our providers: you are the heartbeat of this village. Your work is sacred, even when it is unseen.

To every individual we serve: you remind us what strength, resilience, and joy truly mean.

No matter how you celebrate this season, may your days be filled with love.

May faith carry you through the hard moments.

May joy, quiet or loud, find its way into your heart.

Always remember - WE are a village and together, we are light.

Wishing you all the joy, love, and peace at the holidays and always.

This Thanksgiving, I find myself truly humbled by the village it takes to support the remarkable individuals with special needs who teach us so much about resilience, joy, and humanity. And at the center of that village is you, your devotion, your courage, and your unwavering compassion. You are the guiding strength that shapes our Affinity family every day.

As you spend time with those you love, I hope you take a quiet moment to feel the gratitude that surrounds you. The care you give, the hope you inspire, and the comfort you share touch far more lives than you can imagine. You give so much of yourself every day, and may this season return that same love, warmth, and appreciation to you. Never forget that each of you are seen, you are cherished, and you are profoundly valued.

May you have a Thanksgiving filled with all the love and blessings you deserve. Never forget that I, along with my entire team are here to support you every step of the way.

Today, our voices were heard.

This afternoon, Governor Katie Hobbs announced that she has directed AHCCCS to create an exception process for DDD families, and that the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) will pause the planned reductions to care hours. The new assessment tools, age caps, and service limits have also been halted for now.

Even more importantly, families who already experienced reductions will have their hours restored to the allotments they had prior to the new assessments.

This outcome is the result of a community that refused to stay silent. Families, caregivers, providers, and advocates came together to speak up, share their stories, and demand to be heard. The fear and stress these changes created were very real, and we recognize the emotional and financial toll it has taken on the families and caregivers we support.

At Affinity, we remain deeply committed to the members we serve and the caregivers we employ. We are here to support you, walk alongside you, and continue to advocate for what is right.

We are also profoundly grateful for this incredible community - your strength, your unity, and your persistence made this moment possible.

There is still more work ahead, but today, we pause to recognize the power of coming together, and the real impact it can make.

Thank you for standing with us. We are always here, and we will keep fighting for you, every step of the way.

Raising Voices Coalition Arizona has been advocating fiercely to protect HCBS services. Last week, AHCCCS, DDD, and the Governorโ€™s Office confirmed that the proposed service reductions are not federally mandated. These cuts are being driven by state-level decisions in anticipation of possible funding pressures tied to the โ€œBig Beautiful Billโ€ (BBB). Importantly, the BBB itself does not reduce HCBS services like Attendant Care or Habilitation. Arizona leaders are framing these restrictions as financial necessity, but they are still choosing to implement them.

With the October 1st policy changes quickly approaching, we cannot wait, our voice is needed now.

There are seven Calls to Action, with the first five being the most urgent. Please take time to complete them today. Together, our voices can protect Arizonaโ€™s most vulnerable community members and make a lasting impact.
