Facet joints are small joints located at each segment of the spine that provide stability and assist in guiding movement. Facet joint pain can result from wear and tear over time, the natural aging process, injury, or misuse. You may qualify for facet joint injections to diminish inflammation and pain in the target region. During this procedure, an anesthetic and corticosteroid are administered into the joint to validate whether it is the source of your discomfort. Find out if you're a candidate for facet joint injections and talk to a specialist at Southern Pain and Neurological for an evaluation! https://southernpainclinic.com/services/

Radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to treat pain by disrupting nerve signaling. During the procedure, a probe emitting radiofrequency energy is inserted near targeted nerves or tissues. This process alters nerve pathways and can provide effective long-term relief for certain types of chronic and acute pain. Radiofrequency ablation may be a treatment option for patients experiencing pain associated with conditions such as back pain, neck pain, or joint pain. If you have been struggling with chronic pain and are seeking a minimally invasive solution, find out if you're a candidate. Trigger point injections are used to address painful areas of muscle containing trigger points, otherwise known as knots. These knots can be felt beneath the skin and may twitch involuntarily when touched, potentially trapping or irritating surrounding nerves, causing referred pain. Trigger point injections for pain can treat many muscle groups including those in the arms, legs, lower back, and neck. Additionally, they are used to treat conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic tension headaches, and Myofascial Pain Disorder that does not respond to other treatments. What happens during trigger point injection therapy? Our pain management doctors administer trigger point injection therapy in about 5 minutes and patients remain awake throughout the procedure. Treatment involves a small needle being inserted into the trigger point and a medication injected into the area, which will alleviate pain. To find out more about trigger point injections for pain contact Southern Pain and Neurological today to request an appointment with one of our specialists! https://southernpainclinic.com/services/

SI joint dysfunction can cause low back pain because inflammation or abnormal movement within the joint places stress on nearby ligaments, muscles, and nerves. The pain often develops gradually but may also occur suddenly after an injury.

Low back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care, but identifying its true source is not always straightforward. While herniated discs, arthritis, and muscle strains often receive the most attention, another structure may be responsible for persistent discomfort: the sacroili...

Degenerative disc disease refers to the gradual deterioration of spinal discs. These discs, which serve as flexible cushions between the vertebrae in the spinal column, play a vital role in absorbing shocks and facilitating comfortable movement, bending, and twisting. The most common symptoms of DDD are neck pain and back pain. Pain can come and go, lasting for weeks or months. Numbness, or tingling may occur in the arms or legs. Pain may also radiate down the buttocks or lower back and worsen with sitting, bending or lifting. Southern Pain and Neurological has treatment options that can help address degenerative disc disease and its associated symptoms. Please contact us for more information.

Understanding the relationship between sleep and chronic pain can help patients take steps toward better rest and improved pain management. While sleep changes alone may not eliminate chronic pain, improving sleep quality can be an important part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

Chronic pain and poor sleep often exist in a cycle where each condition makes the other worse. People living with ongoing pain may struggle to fall asleep, wake frequently throughout the night, or experience restless sleep because discomfort prevents the body from fully relaxing. At the same time, i...
