"Moms and women especially pride ourselves on being able to do it all, and make it look easy. But inside, we may be truly falling apart. It can be so hard to finally admit to ourselves and then to our partners or our friends that we are struggling with postpartum depression or anxiety.

If your wife, girlfriend, sister, or friend comes to you and admits that she’s going through a difficult time, don’t try to tell her what she should or shouldn’t do. Instead, listen to her, and believe her."

Simone Biles's injury not only shocked the country but also opened an important dialogue. Read what her announcement can tell us about maternal mental health.

For the last week I’ve wrestled to try and understand and make sense of the events that took place at our Capitol building. While I still do not understand the mindset or beliefs of these rioters and insurrectionists, this podcast episode by Brene Brown has helped me to process these events the most. I highly recommend and encourage you to take a listen and join me in stopping the shaming and instead upholding accountability.

“People who support white supremacy aren’t emboldened by a lack of shame, they’re emboldened by a lack of accountability.”
