The Annette Island Service Unit offers primary comprehensive outpatient health care services to Alaska Natives and American Indians living in Metlakatla, Alaska. The Annette Island Service Unit and its staff of 90 employees provide health care for over 22,000 outpatient visits each year. The Annette Island Service Unit Health Center is a 31,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility which offers a full-range of ambulatory care services and comprehensive community health services. Services provided include: emergency and urgent care, ambulatory care, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, dental, physical therapy, health education, public health, nutrition, environmental health and community health services such as mental health, substance abuse, social services and community health representatives. The mission of the Annette Island Service Unit is to provide the highest quality health service for our people. The Annette Island Service Unit provides primary health services at our outpatient facility in Metlakatla through funding from the Indian Health Service (IHS). It is important to understand that the Annette Island Service Unit is a service provider, not an insurance program. This site describes the services available to our Alaska Native and Indian beneficiaries, the basic procedures for accessing those services, and the limitations of the program.
