💡 Today is DLD Day!
Here are 5 Things to Know About DLD ( )👇🏼
1️⃣ DLD (Developmental Language Disorder) means a child has trouble understanding what people say and expressing their own ideas.
2️⃣ DLD is a hidden but common disability that affects 1 in 14 people.
3️⃣ Signs may not appear until reading and writing emerge, or until students meet the language demands in school.
4️⃣ DLD and dyslexia often overlap. One study cited by ASHA found 54% of children with DLD also had dyslexia, and 71% of children with dyslexia had DLD.
