3 fun ways to play with pumpkins!

🫧 Wash It — Grab soapy water, sponges, and brushes for a pumpkin washing station.

🔨 Hammer It — With adult supervision, tap golf tees into a pumpkin to make a porcupine, pattern, or spooky creation.

🎨 Decorate It — Use stickers, googly eyes, and foam shapes to create silly pumpkin faces.

Three simple ways to play, create, and keep little hands busy this fall!

📌 Save these for your next pumpkin day!

Therapy tip for the weekend!

Fall is a great time to get outside, enjoy the cooler weather, and add a little movement into your child’s day.

If your child needs help resetting after a busy week, try some simple fall movement activities:

🍁 Take a walk and collect colorful leaves
🌳 Explore a local trail
🎃 Carry or roll pumpkins
🍂 Rake leaves and jump in the pile
🪵 Step over sticks, rocks, and other nature obstacles

Moving outdoors gives kids a chance to use their whole bodies while getting some fresh air and having fun.

Sometimes a change of scenery and a little movement is just what everyone needs after a busy week.

👇 What’s your family’s favorite way to get outside in the fall?

Watch a child climb onto playground equipment and you might notice something interesting: sometimes getting up is easy…and figuring out how to get back down takes a little more thought.

Stepping down, climbing backward, navigating stairs, or lowering themselves from equipment asks kids to judge distance, figure out where to put their hands and feet, shift their weight, and control their movement.

Next time you’re at the playground, instead of immediately lifting them down, give them a moment to figure out their next move when it’s safe to do so.

Sometimes you can almost SEE the wheels turning.

Ever look over and wonder… how is that position even comfortable?!
Kids can find some pretty creative ways to sit while they’re playing, coloring, or watching TV.

Rather than focusing on one “perfect” sitting position, look for variety and comfort. Kids naturally shift positions throughout the day, and different positions ask their bodies to work in different ways.

Try changing things up during floor play:
🧩 Sit cross-legged for a puzzle
🖍️ Lie on the belly while coloring
🧸 Kneel while playing with toys
📚 Sit supported against a wall for a book
🙌 Get up and move between activities

Movement and changing positions are part of the day, too!

Indoor play doesn’t have to mean a complicated setup or a trip to the store. A few things you already have around the house can turn into an afternoon of creating, building, imagining, and problem-solving.

🗺️ Draw a map and create your own adventure
🌈 Pull out the paints and get creative
🧱 Build something completely new
🏠 Grab some blankets and make the ultimate fort

The best part? There’s no “right” way to do any of it. Let them take the idea and see where their imagination goes!

📌 Save this one for the next rainy, chilly, or “Mom, I’m bored!” kind of day.

Sunday activity idea! Build the coziest reading spot you can!

Grab the pillows. Bring over the blankets. Let the kids pick out a stack of their favorite books and create their very own reading nook.

Maybe it’s a blanket fort in the living room, a pile of pillows in their bedroom, or a cozy little corner of the couch.

Let them help build it, arrange it, and make it their own—then slow things down and enjoy a few books together.

No complicated activity needed. Just a cozy Sunday, a good story, and some time together.

Sometimes the biggest moments are actually the little ones. Maybe your child zipped their jacket without help. Tried something they usually avoid. Made it across the monkey bars. Asked for help when they needed it. Got through a tricky homework assignment. Or simply kept trying when something felt hard.

Those moments deserve to be celebrated, too.

Progress doesn’t always happen in giant leaps. So as you head into the weekend, take a second to notice something your child did this week that made you proud.

And make sure they know you noticed it.

Grab an apple, some washable paint, and a piece of paper and you’ve got an easy activity for an afternoon at home.

Cut the apple in half, dip it in paint, and let your child stamp away! Try different colors, make patterns, count the apple prints, or turn them into silly faces when they dry.

It’s creative, a little messy, and gives those little hands plenty to do while they play.

And if your apple masterpiece ends up looking nothing like you planned? Even better.

Getting dressed gives kids so many opportunities to use their hands, build coordination, and practice doing things on their own.

And the best time to practice? Probably not when everyone is trying to rush out the door in the morning.

Instead, turn it into something they can explore when there’s no pressure. Grab an old button-up shirt, jacket, backpack, or pair of shoes and let them practice fastening, zipping, snapping, and tying at their own pace.

Every “I did it!” is another little step toward independence.
