What a journey! I’m so thankful for my family and friends who supported me on this wild ride..even the ones who thought I was crazy for trying to pull this off πŸ˜‚. Thankful for my mentors who helped to set me up for success. Most of all, I’m thankful to God for keeping me strong during the toughest times and flooding me with blessings beyond what I could imagine for myself β™₯️ !

I had a lovely weekend in Miami with learning from the phenomenal and many other experts in the various dermatology specialties. My favorite part though, was hearing the am/pm skincare routines of these fabulous derms 😍. Grateful for every learning opportunity!πŸ™πŸΎ

Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia is a form of hair loss that involves scarring of the hair follicles which may lead to permanent damage and an inability to grow new hair in affected areas. It is seen most commonly in women of African descent.

FYI:

γ€° Symptoms of pain/tenderness to the central scalp often occurs.

γ€° Chemical relaxers, heat, high tension styles may play a role.

γ€° Many women cover up the hair loss with wigs, weaves, hats etc and do not seek help until it’s severe. The earlier you seek care, the better the chances of saving the follicles and promoting regrowth.

γ€° Multiple treatment methods are employed to target inflammation and scarring and stimulate hair growth.

If you believe you may have CCCA, skip the hair growth serums and oils and head straight to your dermatologist. Time is of the essence!

Two reasons why working out is great for your skin:

1. Alleviates stress - Remember, stress triggers and worsens skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis and yes, even acne!

2. Increased blood flow to the skin and removal of toxins through sweat

Do it before your mind convinces you not to! No one ever regrets working out after it's done.
