TODAY’S LESSON: GENERAL TRANSITS DO NOT IMPACT EVERYONE THE SAME WAY.
This is something I constantly emphasize when discussing transits:
A general transit does not mean every being on this Earth will experience the effects of that transit at the same time or in the same way.
You have to run the individual transit chart and determine what those transiting planets are actually doing to the critical points in the person’s natal chart.
A few weeks ago, Perez Hilton experienced a serious mental health crisis that was publicly reported as involving apparent self-harm, visible cuts and blood, and what appeared to be a knife. He was also reportedly treated following an overdose. His family revealed that he had been battling depression before the incident.
Looking at his natal chart, Perez has natal Moon square Neptune, an aspect that can describe a heightened emotional sensitivity and, in some expressions, struggles involving mood, anxiety, confusion, escapism, or depression.
Transit Mars was square his natal Moon. An activation. 🚩
His Mercury in Aries is Mars ruled and makes a trine to Neptune. In a medical astrology framework, this combination can become relevant when examining themes involving an ease of mental distress, thoughts, and Mars related manifestations such as injury or cutting.
If you have attended one of my classes, you know that I teach how transits can activate natal aspects that already exist in the birth chart.
Then we have Transit Moon in Aries conjunct his natal Mercury.
The transiting Moon moving through Aries brought a Mars ruled influence directly onto his Mercury. This activated his natal Mercury and its relationship with Neptune.
Transit Moon in Aries also made a square to his natal Mars, creating another layer of activation involving the Moon, Mercury, Mars and Neptune.
Do you see the Mars signature and the activations?
Now look at Transit Neptune in Aries.
Transit Neptune in Aries is sitting on his Sun in Aries. Neptune is operating through a Mars ruled sign, while Mars is simultaneously strongly involved through the transits.
Symbolically, we have:
Neptune - mental/emotional dissolution, confusion, crisis
Mars - injury, cuts, weapons, acute action
Aries - Mars ruled expression
Moon - emotional state
Mercury - thoughts and mental processing
Then there is another important layer.
He was experiencing his first Chiron return, with Transit Jupiter in Leo making a square to his natal Chiron.
Jupiter amplifies what it aspects while Chiron can bring old wounds and vulnerable areas to the surface. In this case, the symbolism coincided with an incident that became highly public and viral.
That is the difference between reading a general transit and actually conducting an individual transit analysis.
To be clear: astrology does not establish that planetary placements caused this person’s crisis. The astrological analysis is a symbolic examination of timing and chart activation, while the underlying mental health circumstances are real world matters that require real world evidence and professional assessment.
The planets don’t affect everyone the same way.
The natal chart tells you where the transit has something to activate.
