Today a medical professional told me I “shouldn’t practice hypnosis” because the Bible says so. 🙃
This came right after a client told me last week that her therapist said she couldn’t be hypnotized because her brain is “too stubborn.” That’s not how hypnosis works.
So let’s set the record straight:
✨ The word “hypnosis” didn’t exist until the 1840s, when James Braid coined it. It’s not in the Bible. Neither is “mesmerism.”
✨ The passages people usually quote (Deuteronomy in the Old Testament, Acts and Galatians in the New) warn against divination, sorcery, and talking to the dead.
✨ Hypnosis has nothing to do with the occult. It’s a focused state of attention in the present moment, and you stay in control the whole time.
When you choose to work with someone who knows what they’re doing and has your best interest at heart, you’re saying: these are my words, my thoughts, my intentions, and I want them in my subconscious. That isn’t something to fear. It’s taking personal responsibility for your own healing.
When people speak with authority about things they don’t understand, it can close a door for someone who’s ready to heal. My job is to be that door. 🚪💛
If you don’t know what you’re talking about, please don’t tell someone they “can’t” be helped.
Watch both parts 👆 and tell me in the comments: have you ever been told hypnosis was “dangerous”? 👇
Also, the fact that she connected my medical symptom to my practice of hypnosis (implying a punishment by God) is WILD but that’s another video 🤪
