THAT ONE SIDED NECK PAIN AFTER SLEEP MAY NOT BE JUST A TIGHT MUSCLE

You wake up, turn your head, and one side of the neck suddenly feels blocked and painful.

A muscle can absolutely be part of the story.

But the cervical facet joint on that side may also become sensitive after staying too long in one position during sleep.

When that happens, the pain often feels sharp, stiff, and easy to point to.

The surrounding muscles then tighten around the same area, which makes the problem feel even more muscular.

That is why the symptom can be misleading.

Pain after sleep does not automatically identify the source.
