Language development starts through connection, play, movement, and everyday moments 🤍

Simple interactions like singing, using gestures, imitating sounds, and talking during play help babies build strong communication skills naturally.

At My Time Therapy, we create sensory-rich and play-based experiences that support early language development in a warm and engaging environment ✨

Communication looks different for every child… and that’s okay 💛

In these moments, we’re not just “playing”… we’re building language.

Using AAC during play helps children:
✨ Express their ideas and choices
✨ Connect words to real experiences
✨ Engage more meaningfully with others
✨ Feel successful when communicating

Notice how communication is modeled, supported, and expanded—all while doing what kids do best: play.

AAC is not a barrier to speech… it’s a bridge 🌉

💬 Every tap, every choice, every interaction matters.

Every child develops at their own pace 💛
But sometimes, little signs can tell us they might need a little extra support.

If your child:
• Uses few words
• Has trouble forming sentences
• Struggles with certain sounds
• Gets frustrated when communicating

Speech therapy can make a world of difference ✨

Early support = stronger communication, confidence, and connection.
We’re here to help every step of the way 🤍

On World Autism Acceptance Day, we recognize the importance of embracing neurodiversity and fostering inclusive communities 💙

Every individual deserves to feel respected, supported, and valued for who they are.

Together, we can create environments where acceptance leads to meaningful connection, growth, and opportunity for all. 🤍

ℹ️ Did you know that touch — especially around the mouth — plays a big role in your child’s ability to talk?

Here’s how:

👄 Oral Awareness Matters
Touch helps kids feel where their lips, tongue, and jaw are — key for learning to move them for speech sounds.

🍎 Feeding Builds Skills
Chewing, sucking, and mouthing toys provide important tactile input that strengthens the muscles used for talking.

🧠 The Brain Needs Sensory Practice
The more your child experiences different textures (e.g., crunchy, chewy, soft), the better their brain gets at coordinating mouth movements for speech.

🎯 Low Oral Awareness = Speech Challenges
Some kids have reduced oral sensitivity and may not feel or move their mouths clearly — which can lead to unclear speech or delays.

💬 Encourage Exploration!
Let your child explore safe textures with their hands and mouths. Think crunchy snacks, chewy toys, blowing bubbles, or even vibrating toothbrushes!

🗣️ When Do Kids Learn Sounds?

Typical Sound Development in English

👶 By age 3:
✅ p, b, m, n, h, w
(Easy starter sounds – think “mama,” “ball,” “no”)

👧 By age 4:
✅ t, d, k, g, f, y
(Sounds used in “dog,” “car,” “fun”)

🧒 By age 5:
✅ v, ng (as in “sing”), ch, j, l
(More complex – “van,” “lunch,” “jump”)

👦 By age 6-7:
✅ sh, th, s, z, r, zh
(These are the trickiest! Think “shoe,” “this,” “zebra,” “red”)
