INTEGRIS Health leadership recently welcomed Patricia Dalke from The Food Pantry of Grove and Debbie Hillestad from the Ottawa County Salvation Army to learn more about the important work these organizations do to support our neighbors.

As part of our leadership donation drive, we’re highlighting ways caregivers and community members can get involved and help meet local needs.

🥫 The Food Pantry of Grove provides food assistance to individuals and families in the community. Donations of items such as cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, canned proteins, soups and stews, rice and beans, pasta and sauces, baking items and snacks can help stock the pantry and provide nutritious options for those in need.

🤝 Ottawa County Salvation Army offers a variety of assistance and resources, including utility and prescription assistance, ID assistance, gas vouchers for out-of-town medical appointments, a food pantry, free clothing, hygiene and cleaning supplies, crisis household items and furniture and resources for people experiencing homelessness or addiction.

Thank you to Patricia and Debbie for sharing more about how we can support these organizations and the people they serve. Together, we can make a meaningful difference close to home.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, but early detection through annual lung cancer screenings can significantly improve outcomes. A lung scan can detect lung cancer in its earliest stages, often before symptoms develop. When found early, lung cancer is more likely to be treated successfully, giving patients more treatment options and a better chance at long-term survival.

Lung cancer screening is recommended for adults who:

▪️ Are between the ages of 50 and 80.
▪️ Have a 20 pack-year smoking history (such as smoking one pack a day for 20 years or two packs a day for 10 years).
▪️ Currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years.

Even people who feel healthy may qualify for screening. Because lung cancer often develops silently, waiting for symptoms can delay diagnosis until the disease is more advanced.

"Many people think they don't need to be screened because they feel fine," says James Rutter, M.D. "The reality is that screening is intended for people without symptoms. That's why it's such an important tool. It allows us to find problems before they become serious."
