Can therapy really work over a screen? Yes β and here's what it actually looks like. π»
Sessions happen over a secure video platform where your child's therapist guides them through activities using toys and materials from home, or interactive apps and tools therapists are trained to use virtually. Therapists are trained to make virtual sessions engaging and movement-based. It looks a lot different than a Zoom call.
That said, tele-health isn't the right fit for every child. Some kids thrive in a virtual setting while others struggle with attention, engagement, or the screen itself β and that's completely okay. It's always a conversation between your family and your therapy team to figure out what works best for your child.
Telehealth isn't a lesser option. For a lot of families, it's actually the better one.
