My Journey of Treating Heart Attacks? When will it End?
Yesterday was another brutal day - 5 heart attacks, scattered throughout the day and night. All procedures performed at a frantic pace. The common denominator - skillful, high-speed driving to the hospital (not from it).
For years, I have maintained that the PROCESS of treating a heart attack is more difficult than the PROCEDURE.
The process, of course, includes very skilled driving, that introduces the risk of an accident.
So, after 26 years of a Heart Attack only practice, where I personally treated more than 3,500 patients, I believe I finally know when I will quit!
It would be when I do not trust my driving!
When reflexes will struggle navigating traffic, not a guide wire steered across a coronary blockage. I think that would be the time to quit.
And I pray that I have the sanity to recognize that moment.
