Communication is more than answering questions.
It's being able to say:
“I need help.”
“I don't understand.”
“I don't like that.”
“Can I have more?”
“I need some space.”
“I want to try.”
Helping children communicate what they need can give them more control over their everyday experiences.
And communication doesn't have to look the same for every child.
Words, gestures, pictures, communication devices, and other methods can all have meaning.
Being understood matters.
