The beauty of mate goes far beyond the cup. 🧉✨
Long before chimarrão became part of Southern culture, Indigenous Guarani peoples already honored yerba mate as a sacred symbol of connection and Community. In the region of Rio Grande do Sul, the celebration especially recognizes the Indigenous Guarani peoples and the Jesuit communities that helped shape the identity, culture, music, architecture, and traditions of the region. It is also a moment to reflect on the resilience, contributions, and history of the Guarani people, whose connection to the land and to yerba mate predates the Missions themselves.
At Mateko, we believe every sip carries history. Every product, every shared moment, and every interaction with our mate-loving community reflects respect for these ancestral roots and the culture that continues to inspire generations around the world. 🌎💚
