Natasha came into my life in 2022, the same year I lost my brother. We never planned it but one morning I showed up to the park to do my own vinyasa practice and there she was.. waiting for Alexandra Sheth to show up to practice Ashtanga. Alex was running a little late and Natasha was a little upset 😆. She invited me to join their practice but I was hesitant… like what do you mean Ashtanga? Ay no que pereza I thought in my mind.. but she had this way of convincing people to join her classes, so I ended up saying yes.

It had been about two months in after my brother’s passing and I was full of rage, sadness, unanswered questions… I wasn’t teaching, I wasn’t living.. I was just existing.

Natasha’s classes helped turn my grieving mind off.. for 90 minutes I was just present with my body and my breath. We would meet Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 7-7:30 am. She would sometimes start it later so I can go see the sunrise… she knew how important those were for me.

Our small Ashtanga group grew. We had such a good time breathing during and chatting after, creating community.

I will forever cherish those mornings. They really helped me heal my broken spirit until I was ready to go teach the practice again.

I feel so honored to have learned from a teacher that selflessly poured herself into others. A real teacher that embodied the true essence of yoga. No ego, no competition, no comparison, no mockery. She was so wise, so smart, she taught me so much more than just asanas.

So far, I’ve had three important teachers in my yoga teacher journey.. Natasha was one of them. Phylice and Jodi are the other ones and most recently I’ve been getting closer to Gaby.

“The teacher appears when the student is ready… the teacher disappears when the student is ready”

I’ll carry her legacy with me and my teachings until the end. Gracias por tanto 🙏

Here are some truth bombs that helped shape my 🧘‍♀️ yoga teacher journey.

The teaching comes when we are ready to receive the lesson so maybe if you are reading this, use it as a push to overcome whatever is stopping you from being the best yoga teacher you want to be!

Don’t forget my 20HR Yoga teacher intensive is happening next month! Come learn all I know about this yoga game 💥✨

This is probably the most important lesson I had to learn. I had been yoga certified for 3 years but terrified of teaching, my best friend flew overseas to do a one month YTT and when she came back to Miami she was already teaching and living the life I had only dreamt about. I had everything I needed to teach, I just didn’t have the balls to do it.

The only way to be good at something is to be bad at something first. We are all going to suck at it before we get good at it. Get over it.. PERIOD!

It’s so much easier to give up on the things we want to create or do.. we start with big hopes, only to later realize the path is a bit harder than we thought. The only difference between those doing it and those who aren’t is that those that did it didn’t give up!

The intention was never to be “perfect”. Students don’t want a perfect teacher, they want a “real” teacher. Stay human.

Set your price and stick to it. There will be a lot of people/studios who will not meet your price and that’s ok because there will be others who will. THANK YOU.. NEXT ➡️

Yoga is not going anywhere. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good Pilates class (and I teach it too) but it does not replace my yoga practice.

Maybe anyone can teach yoga but not everyone should teach it. 🤔

Nope… you do not need to travel to India to be legit. Highly encourage you to venture one day but don’t let that stop you from being the best teacher you can be right now.

The truth is that most studios will not hire a brand new yoga teacher. Can we blame them tho? Nope.. you need to earn your stripes!

It’s ok to teach a sequence you feel comfortable with the first couple of times you lead a yoga class… students appreciate being able to see their progress with consistency. Once you are comfortable you can start inviting little changes that can make it feel like a brand new class.

Let’s take your teacher journey to the next level! Yoga is not to be taught by anyone.. do you have what it takes?

Did you know the percentage of yoga teachers who make a living solely out of yoga is extremely low? In 2016 only 29% of certified yoga teachers claimed yoga as their main source of income.

Ten years later, the industry may look different.. but one thing remains true:

“A 200hrs certification alone doesn’t build a career”

For those who want to continue growing beyond their 200hrs training, I’ve created a 20-Hour Continuing Education Training.

A safe space to refine your skills, build confidence, and continue becoming the teacher you want to be. 🤎🧘‍♀️✨

Because the learning doesn’t end at 200HRS training.. it begins there.

Finishing my 200HR gave me the foundation. But becoming a true teacher? That happened in the years that followed.

These are some of the things I wish someone had told me when I was standing at the beginning of my teaching journey. 🤍

Do these resonate with you?

Beyond excited to share with all of you a project I’ve been working on. Sharing for the first time ever THE HIGHONYOGA METHOD Continuing Education Program.

20-HOUR TEACHER INTENSIVE

From Certified to Confident

A 3-day continuing education experience designed for newly certified yoga teachers ready to move beyond their 200-hour training and step into the room with greater confidence, clarity, and purpose.

You completed your 200-hour certification. You learned the poses, the philosophy, the foundations of sequencing and the principles of teaching.

But then comes the moment when you stand at the front of a room and realize:

Teaching yoga is a practice of its own.

The HighOnYoga Method: Teacher Intensive was created to bridge that gap.

Drawing from over a decade of teaching experience, this immersive 3-day training focuses on the practical skills that develop through experience, but don’t always get enough attention in a traditional 200-hour program.

This isn’t about learning more yoga.

It’s about learning how to teach it.

YOU’LL LEARN TO:

01 — INTELLIGENTLY SEQUENCE
Move beyond memorized sequences and learn how to build classes with intention, structure, rhythm, and purpose.

02 — MASTER LAYERED CUEING
Learn how to communicate clearly, refine movement, and guide different levels of students without overwhelming the room.

03 — DEVELOP YOUR TEACHING SKILLS
Put your knowledge into practice through teaching labs, real classroom scenarios, and guided feedback.

04 — MANAGE THE ROOM
Learn how to read the energy of a class, adapt in real time, navigate unexpected situations, and create an environment where students feel supported.

05 — OFFER OPTIMAL MODIFICATIONS
Develop a deeper understanding of how to meet students where they are and offer meaningful options without losing the integrity of the practice.

06 — UNDERSTAND THE BUSINESS OF YOGA
Explore the professional side of teaching, from building your reputation and finding your voice to navigating studios, private clients, workshops, and opportunities beyond the traditional class.
